Anti-Trolling Bill
So, I thought this was interesting and it may not interest everyone.
There is currently a bill being introduced to Australian Parliament atm that basically says if you are an Australian troll and you post defamatory content (Australian legal definition of this) then you can be taken to court.
However, for this to be applicable, the poster has to be posting from Australia - cause ya know, we can’t enforce our rules in other countries. And be Australian themselves.
What this does is forces social media providers to provide country of origin, name, contact details such as email and phone number by request of the end-user/organisation/government, etc.
There is a bit more to this but I won’t bore you and if it makes it through to the Upper House it could change anyways, but I thought it was interesting.
*Australian definition of defamation: Publication of material which harms a person’s reputation. This can be written, pictures or verbal.
