Ash is the second born son to the James family, a small pack in New Orleans, Louisiana. Due to the family’s sordid history and practices, Ash left high school around the age of 16 and never finished, as a physical trade was more valuable than proper education. It wasn’t too upsetting for him, as he preferred to work with his hands (though the man still holds some contempt for not finishing) he took to carpentry and was raised to be the future beta, or at least the next in line if the eldest sibling didn’t make it or couldn’t handle the task. 

That isn’t to say Ash accepted the life laid out for him by the pack with open arms. He argued with his parents about leaving school, he socialized with strangers longer than would be comfortable, he attempted to reason and gently push the boundaries of what was allowed. And with each instanced he was scolded and received some punishment, falling back in line until the urge to press on accessible fissures returned... but he always fell back in line. 

He even married as he was supposed to, to another wolf from a separate pack whom he was smitten with and seemed opportune to tie the knot. However, the infatuation and initial honeymooners spark faded, and while Ash has love for Cassie, it became more apparent over the years their marriage was a duty rather than an enjoyed union.

It became more apparent when his younger brother, Axel, left the pack. When their eldest sibling, now in place of Alpha, expelled Axel from the pack Ash was enraged. Late to the fight, he argued the pack was outdated and needed adjust to the times, that family was more important than some unneeded tradition that should have been the lesson from their infamous history. 

Ash was told to leave as well, and only come back if he was dragging Axel behind him. With no intentions of doing the latter, he chose to follow in the younger’s footsteps, though when he asked for his wife to join him, Cassie told him he was on his own.

So now he is at Layters, late to the fight yet again, and soon to realize he won’t be able to leave. It’s new, and it’s a little overwhelming to be around people not related to him, the abundance of people of different species (even if his lips go a little sour around humans).

HISTORY

Matei Antonescu was born into one of the largest and strongest covens of the Balkans. His mother, a witch that had been adopted into Alexander Whitmore’s coven at an early age, married his father, the son of the then-leader of the Antonescu coven. Among the covens of Romania, the Antonescu family was somewhat royalty, mostly due to the semi-cruel methods used by earlier members to establish their power. Much of the Antonescu’s prominence comes from a fear that was embedded through history.

Mat’s generation, however, strongly disagreed with the methods and ideals of their parents and grandparents. The biggest controversy was the tradition of forcibly turning all members of the coven into risen witches once they either 1. reached the age of 25, or 2. mastered enough elements of their witchcraft both in practice and textbook use. Matei’s mother, along with his cousin Maria, her mother, and a large group of members advocated for the abolishment of the tradition. Much to his father’s chagrin, the group succeeded in reversing the custom. Matei and Maria’s generation, as well as all those to come, would have their own choice as to whether they turned or not. 

The victory was a short-lived three years for Matei, who had narrowly missed his own forced rise before his 25th birthday. Politics got in his way. A low-level elder on the Antonescu council was assassinated by witches of a rival coven. As Matei’s generation of witches was expected to be the next round of elders, eyes turned to him. Considered the strongest/most knowledgable of his group, he was expected to take the required action of turning himself to take the role. He tried negotiating with his father and the council, pleading with them to take into consideration the reversal of the tradition and to possibly allow him the role without turning. 

Living a mortal life was all Matei had ever wanted for himself. He wanted to grow old with his relatives, and his loved one. He wanted to die a mortal death, knowing he lived his life the best way he could, and gave his family all that he had. This was why he fled. He had no plan for quite some time, wandering Europe, laying low, and keeping away from any eyes that might have recognized him. 

He found himself in Layter’s Cross and considered it a small enough town to hide in. It seemed to him that the locals had enough of their own problems to distract from his sudden arrival. Thinking he was safe enough, but unaware that a spy sent by his father behind his mother’s had been tracking his whereabouts, he felt he could relax for some time in Layter’s. On the same night as the massacre, the spy broke into Matei’s hotel room while he slept and suffocated him. He woke up a risen witch. 

His parents are now at odds, the coven is in chaos with political mess piling on top of them, and Matei is allegedly the only one that can fix it all. His father had hoped Matei would be forced to return after being risen, to face his duty. Such a shame, he’s stuck in Layter’s Cross until who knows when.

BACKGROUND OVERVIEW.

leonora  was born in 1619, the daughter of king christian iv of denmark - an illegitimate daughter, however.

her human life was rather complicated and filled with running away and hiding, but the whole thing gets back to the fact that eventually she was legitimized by her father and made a princess, who married a wealthy duke heir named niels, with whom she had two children.

she was turned into a vampire after a ball night with her husband years after being made a legitimate princess, but they both managed to hide their new nature for a couple of months.

when they were discovered by her people within the court, who saw them as beasts, they were forced to flee with their two children, and from them on, they had to pretend to be other people. leonora even pretended to be a man for a couple years.

at one point, people who were looking for them were so close that leonora and niels chose to give their children to adoption (hardest choice she ever had to make, btw).

and soon after that, they were separated by a force of fate. they never got to see each other again for hundreds of years, and the one time leo did find niels, she couldn’t reach out to him.

she’s been all over throughout the years, but the longest she stayed in one place was 19th century brazil, where she stayed for 57 years (having been there on the 17th century too, for a brief period of time).

now, leonora decided to use her real name again (it’s been long enough), but is posing as an english record store owner in layter’s cross as she actually is a bit of a con-artist on the side

she’s actually very cunning and can be that kind of person who tricks others, but is also very generous to those in need

pretty much obsessed with researching everything that people have written about her (and her family) and to people who don’t know who she is, she says she has a history degree and is crazy about danish monarchy...

leo is a little lonely at times, and she deals with being alone well, but loneliness will eat you from the inside out, if you know what i mean, so there’s that

genevieve simone lafont - genny, gen, eve, vivi. literally she’ll answer to almost any variation of her name, but if you’re not her siblings or her mother she’s not likely to answer to genevieve...mostly bc it’s only ever used when she’s done something to upset someone or get herself into trouble.

a bit odd, kind of a mess, but all in all she’s a pretty decent person? like she’s not out here to cause anyone any harm as long as they don’t hurt her or her loved ones.

as a kid she was always finding trouble, though she’d personally say it was the trouble that found her. while she was typically able to talk her way out of her problems herself, she definitely found herself thanking her lucky stars more than once that she had her brothers to fall back on.

from the time she was a little girl she had a strong creative streak, which played a large role in the trouble she found herself in. art supplies can be expensive, and it’s much easier to simply “borrow” some from others.

she did briefly mellow out in her early twenties, settling down and marrying a human man she was convinced she was in love with. 

four years later things changed. the short story, the one she’ll tell people, is simply that she died. the longer story is much more painful.

either way she returned to using her maiden name when she awoke. her husband so far as she knew, had died as well, and she couldn’t bring herself to keep any more ties to her pain than she had to.

over the years she’s made a name for herself, selling her pieces more-or-less anonymously and letting the outside world believe she’s a withered old woman. she only takes commissions from other supernatural individuals, and hasn’t actually sold a single work of art in the last decade.

while she’ll never admit it, she hates being a risen witch. she enjoyed her life up until the end, and the sudden shift into an entirely different way of “life” was something she was not at all a fan of. she is thankful that she’s still got her family, but the prospect of immortality had never appealed to her.

honestly she’s only in town because she was looking for her brother. she missed him, decided to pack a bag and pop in for a visit. now she’s stuck here at a hotel with a weeks worth of clothes and not even a sketch pad.

travelled for a bit but always returned home after a few months, so being somewhere new and not able to go home? she’s Not A Fan.

Takahiro (Nee Tochika) was born in Wells, England

His parents were divorced so he wound up going back and forth.It was very stressful 

School wasn’t as enjoyable either being the odd one out

The only reassurance was going to the park and going bird watching

For him it was solstice in the hectic life. 

He decided to go out into the world by applying to Wellbeck 

Tochika, now Takahiro was in college and  quietly transitioned

A year later he met the love of his life  Clara and He fell for her hard 

Takahiro really wanted to marry her and then tragedy strikes with Clara’s mom 

He respected her decision to end the relationship but to say it didnt hurt him would be a lie 

Takahiro focued more on his studies and graduated in Biology. He got accepted into the Masters of  Ornithology 

It would one of those trips in the field hat would affect his life forever

There he would encounter a hunter and a wolf from the huiz pack. Being a biology student. H tried to persuade the other to not shoot the wolf. And he got shot with the harpoon insteaad 

Takahiro remembered everything going white and felt something bit his lip before passing out. 

He woke up very dazed and confused seeing a medic eyeing him. Takahiro was surprised he could see clearly without the glasses. 

It was explained to him what happened and Takahiro....might have fainted.

H eventually came to terms being part of the pack and the werewolf thing even though he strongly disagrees about using violence

Takahiro would stll be by their side even by that faithful

Still someohow the werewolf who he saved pushed him away from the fight. 

He woke up dazed and confused about the obliteration of his pack. 

Takhiro is t standstill processing it because hes too busy processing the tragedy while being a masters student/professor aide 

Personality 

He’s naturally suspicious of anyone outside his pack.. That’s just his nature to think that might be a threat. Also, he has a tendency to keep a distance 

Takahiro also is the type to try to network with others,but thats to hopefully be more relatable to other. But he rathered be approached then the talked to 

He’s the type to do the behind the scenes stuff- university posters? He done it . Last minute chaperone at the community center ?He’s there.  Ripped your pants? Lets you borrow his jacket 

Still there is that secret fear of his wolf becoming too much for him so he wants to be as sweet as possible. 

Even meeting his natural rivals (ie Vampires) he prefers to talk it out 

Basically what would happen if a really shy guy  was a werewolf.
