I had my #amputation #LBKA September 8th the surgery took 4 hours. I'll be inpatient at #bethisrael for awhile. #newchapter #amputee (at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center)
So since all the senior euph players have our lesson at the same time our director asked us to do a euph trio for the ensemble concert And it turned into a quartet with our other director
My director is posting a bunch of old videos ranging from 2 weeks ago all the way back to 1989 to show us how much the brass section has improved Looking back on how much better we all are compared to just 2 years ago is unreal. As much as I love our show 2 years ago I can hardly hear any baritone lines and I played the music for it so I know what to listen for (and let's not talk about my feet). Now it's hard not to hear us to focus on vis stuff and blending and intonation and everything is just undescribably better. I was scoffing at my director saying in a few years the brass will be a huge powerhouse and we started it, but seeing the improvement I can completely believe it now. Our placements were dumb all year but I don't care. If some old guys in green shirts (hired by George Hopkins too) think we're a second to last place ensemble, then damn am I one proud member of a second to last place ensemble
I got a compliment from the woodwind tech (who constantly pushes the woodwinds to be better than brass) after the preview show today what up
We're playing hypnotic brass ensemble's War for our trip and as a stand tune/encore piece next year frick yeah
I can totally get on board with this show theme
We get to sing Randy Dandy O for the preshow too which is really cool
Im so mad right now we did slave labor in theory on tuesday to help fill out order forms for next year and we were joking like 'oh pirate flag props we better order 20 of those'
