Despite having a solo mode, LCGoL brought co-op fun to the franchise, allowing players, for the first time ever, to traverse, solve puzzles, and fight their way through the game together 🤝

TR25 | Reimagined Covers: Guardian of Light

Back in February 2021, Crystal Dynamics debuted a special project that aimed to reimagine the box art of all the mainline entries and the first two Lara Croft spin-off games in the series. Each one features a different artist and their unique take on the game they were assigned with and is set to be released throughout the anniversary celebration.

For Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (2010), the team unveiled this adorable and colourful illustration designed by the talented Monserrat Martell, a Mexican artist also known as Monster Draw around the web.

Below you can find what the artist had to say on the making of this piece and download it in various sizes so you can customize all of your devices.

"I made the cover of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light by referencing the contrasting colors that the story has, which are primarily blue and orange. That notorious play of light along the adventure is extremely visually charming, so I wanted to include it to create a similar atmosphere in illustration.

Guardian of Light is commonly played co-op and companionship is important, the support of one another, which is why both characters appear as protagonists in the illustration. To frame the characters, I designed a background that takes us back to where the story setting—Mexico with its pyramids and part of one of the story journals.

I hope you enjoy this game as much as I do."

To conclude our celebrations of the first Tomb Raider spin-off, we're reliving the main menu of the game. Like we’ve mentioned early on in 2021, this was one of our goals for the 25th anniversary festivities in which we’ll be sharing more memorable and iconic moments from the saga.
