lindsey+eliot anon here, and thank you so much! im still working on plot currently, but the main idea is basically 'how well can I mash their lives into one' and the answer is 'really well'? lindsey leaving OK via joining the army, serving in various black ops, and then working as a hitter under the name eliot. the main change is instead of just leaving moreau he takes him down, and so to avoid the heat he tries to 'go straight' via finishing college [1/?]
and staying off anyone's radar. since he's pretty much Just done his 'worst thing ever' for moreau and then taken moreau out, he decides to try going straight by actually working as a lawyer, gets hired by the somewhat shady but not Immediately Obviously Evil wolfram and hart, and then works his way up from knowing nothing to knowing too much (but also discovering he's magic) and AtS starting [2/3] i really loved your meta on lindsey and eliot, and i agree with it, so now im just sort of figuring out what lindsey would do if he had that extra assurance, but also, a double dose of that determinator attitude? he can punch his way out and talk his way out, but also, he's already hit his moral turning point, so i doubt he'd stick around WH when things started getting really bad? but also like, he's Too Much for angel 100% i'd love your thoughts also [3/3]
I hadn’t considered starting with Eliot instead, but it makes sense. Special ops taught him to think strategically and ruthlessly, and how to examine the politics of a situation, without having to ever deal with actual consequences. He had to face that with Moreau, and it would make sense that he’d start dealing in that with law. It’s also possible that Wolfram & Hart were the only ones willing to accept a mail boy with a past as sketchy as Lindsey’s, or perhaps they offered him a job specifically because of it. It’s easy to see him thinking he’s got no lower to go, no soul left to sell and finding out too late Wolfram & Hart meant it quite literally.
Then Lindsey’s story goes from finding his line to knowing where his line is, but being trapped by magic anyway. On the one hand, that works really well, but on the other, I can’t see Lindsey making some of the choices and alliances he did if he’d already gone through Moreau because Eliot knows what Lindsey doesn’t: there are some demons you die instead of serving.
It’ll be really interesting to see how you reconcile the characters and weave those backstories together! I’m looking forward to it!
