6 and 17 for Halla
6. Their interactions with their children
“Mama, up!”
“Mama, porte-moi aussi!”
Halla laughs and crouches in front of Leandre and Dominique. “My darlings, you’re getting to big for Mama to carry you both!” She laughs again at their identical pouts and wonders if that’s how Gaspard looked as a young, chubby-cheeked toddler prince. “You’ll have to take turns.”
“No!” Dominique insists. “Both up, Mama!”
Halla gives a long, put-upon, and entirely fake sigh. “Fine.” She holds out her arms, and the two youngest children cling to her as she stands up. “Just this once.”
17. Them sleeping
When alone, she sleeps luxuriously, on her back or front, arms above her head, legs in some space-hogging formation. If her mouth is open, it is only slightly.
When she sleeps next to someone, she snuggles into them, sometimes on top of them or using them as a pillow. She unconsciously tucks herself toward their warmth, usually managing to tangle both of them in blankets before morning.
