It's always exciting yet never a surprise when we learn something new about our friend(s) that we didn't quite realize. Debi Hemmeter shared her 'Lean In' story at the East Bay Women's Conference. Having never read the book or heard Debi speak I was touched by her own story, and impressed by her passion, thoughts and ideas that propelled the 'Lean In' movement. As co-founder with Sheryl Sandberg of the New York Times best seller, Lean In, millions of copies sold, over 30,000 Lean In Circles in over 150 countries she is a force to be reckoned. Debi went on to share how she, like millions of women, 'lean back.' Clearly, she eventually did 'Lean In', had a successful career, has mentored many women and men, and coached her own daughters to Lean In. Debi is an inspiration to both men and women alike including her own two girls one of which went on to run for Sophomore class president instead of running under her best friend, a guy. Stories like Debi's, her daughter's and yours are important to hear in order to empower our daughters, nieces, colleagues, friends and women around the world. There's so much more, but for now I'm off to start my own Lean In Circle. #LeanIn don't #LeanBack learn how to create your own #LeanInCircle @ LeanIn.org . . . #LeanIn #encouragement #wordsofwisdom #serendipity #leancircles #debihemmeter @debihemmeter (at San Ramon Marriott)
