“Uh, yeah. I’ve been training a little.” That part is true. Strider stands up on their hind-legs, punching the air with their paws. “Want me to show you what I got?”

When the Jolteon approached Strider to ask for directions, the first thing Strider did was stare. Then they considered how they had a Cool Reputation to build and figured that hey, it wouldn’t hurt to lie a little. 

Turns out maybe this wasn’t such a great idea. 

“Umm...” Strider looks down at their paws. Yeah, shit, this is real bad. This lie is gonna cost them a potential friendship once it gets out in the open. 

“Uuummmm...” Their paws start to heat up. Shit, shit, shit... Usually (well, sometimes) they’re so good at bullshitting (well, they think they are), like how humans bullshit to get their way through school. What’s the best way to lie about this? 

“I, uuuhh...” Their ears rotate side-to-side in thought. “Have...” Come on, come on... 

“Am-ne-sia?”

Strider scratches their head. “Geez, I dunno what to say...” They continue scratching their head, tail swishing in thought. “Uuuhh... I guess you’re pretty cool for an old person. I mean, you let me hang out in your garden and stuff. That’s really dope.”

Strider wiggles his tail like a dog (though he’s a cat... CatDog?). “Oh rad!” His queer-platonic partner, Diyana sometimes makes stir fry. Basically cooks and bakes for him in general. It’d be cool to ask them for help sometime, but - Mmm... Maybe weird? It’s different learning to cook with an acquaintance you don’t live with. Also, this is twunk training!

“Can’t wait to learn so I may become,” Strider clenches a paw into a fist, stars in his eyes, “the Ultimate Twunk!”

Mettaton’s voice sends a shiver running through Strider like fingers across fur. No no no no no. He’s not supposed to like skinny-ass twinks. He’s supposed to like beefier bois who are so much better than him. Don’t fall for him.

“I - I, uh...” He looks away. Paws are sweaty. Knees weak. Legs are sweaty. There’s vomit on his fur already. Mom’s sphaghetti. He’s nervous.
