I had never noticed it before, but TV3 (the public television channel of Catalonia) has subtitles in English, Spanish and Arabic for a few shows.
This can be useful for people who are learning Catalan, so I’ll leave the links to the lists here: subs in English, in Spanish, in Arabic.
These are very few shows, but all the rest of shows (there’s hundreds of them you can legally watch for free from TV3′s website) have subtitles in Catalan too, so check them out if you’re at that level.
Out of the ones with subtitles, I recommend the following:
No pot ser!: the journalist Jordi Basté tries to understand the modern world and the quick changes that technology is bringing, some of them very crazy.
El Foraster: Quim Masferrer is “the foreigner”, he travels to a different small village of Catalonia in every episode. He walks around talking to people and out of everything they have told him he makes a stand up comedy show in front of the whole village. It’s very cute and funny.
Crims: a true crime show that has been very popular since it came out, every episode reconstructs a different crime that happened in Catalonia. Through interviews, the police registers, etc they explain what happened.
Les de l’Hoquei: (this one may not be available from TV3′s websites from some countries because Netflix has bought it) fiction show, mostly for teenagers and young adults, about a group of girls who play hockey.
30 Minuts and Quatre Gats also have some interesting documentaries
I haven’t seen L’ofici de viure so I won’t comment on that, El Cotxe is interviews with famous people from here but foreigners most certainly won’t know these people so they won’t be interested, and La Fossa is a fiction show that is fine but I found it a bit slow.
