CTRL :: Y-3 Spring 2013 Fashion Show
Creative Direction + Sculptural Projection Mapping + Custom Motion Graphics + Fabrication and Production Coordination
For the reveal of Y-3's Spring 2013 collection, TMA artist CTRL (aka Dev Harlan) brought to life The Diamond Facade. Curating all elements of creative, fabrication and a/v production, CTRL created the cutting edge backdrop that complimented the lastest line from master designer Yojhi Yamamoto. Using 800+ identical triangular panels, CTRL constructed two custom, three-dimensional walls populated with over 20 minutes of custom content mapped perfectly during both the show and after-party. ‘At Y3, the geometric backdrop lit up in a kaleidoscope of colors. I could barely take my eyes off the amazing light show to look at the clothes!’ - Becky Malinsky, Glamour magazine.
Adam Aleksander :: Kim Crawford Wine's 'Undone'
Experiential Event Concepting + Art Direction + Immersive Set Design
On April 5th, 2012, Kim Crawford Wines transported unassuming party goers into a custom, enchanted setting for UNDONE. Attendees were delivered only a vague invitation to an ‘Extraordinary Photography Experience with Miles Aldridge.’ Upon arrival, the full experience was revealed, instead of simply viewing photographs and sipping wine, guests were immersed into an extremely elaborate set and were witness and some were asked to participate in a live photo shoot for Kim Crawford’s upcoming ad campaign with fashion photographer, Miles Aldridge.
For this campaign, Kim Crawford teamed up with interactive set designer, Adam Aleksander. Aleksander created the immersive set, with various scenes and costumed characters. The many scenes (or rooms) included: The Pink Room, which featured a mural and a custom Rube Goldberg machine, which poured a glass of wine for one lucky guest.
The Green Room, which was an enchanted forest scene, filled with Spanish moss and wood nymphs.
The White Room, with white-on-white elegance and a madam of the night, leading her costumed unexacting male courtesans to provide hospitality.
And finally, The Gold Room was the nightlife equivalent of King Midas's palace, complete with gold patent-leather furniture, glitter archways, and gold and crystal chandeliers.
Attendees were plucked or charmed from the crowd and asked to participate in the different environments. Models were given a role and were fully adorned with a wardrobe, hair and make-up to accent the scenes and to interact with the crowd. The immersive set, costume design and photo shoot created an event that was truly outlandish, extravagant and undoubtedly fabulous.
CTRL :: Jason Wu Target Press Launch
Architectural Projection Mapping + Motiongraphic Animation
For a single evening in January of 2012, Skylight Soho’s 18,000 square foot gallery space in New York City was transformed into a whimsical French street scene for the launch of fashion designer, Jason Wu’s new clothing line for Target. The scene included hand-painted wall illustrations, animated video projections mapped to three-dimensional façades, and window boxes overflowing with white roses.
TMA sculptural projection mapping artist CTRL mapped three-dimentional facades and animated video projections of Milu the cat on to the buildings. Milu is the collection's feline mascot she represents the line’s feminine and stylish sensibility. Milu walked along the windows, watched the tower's clock, and played around the shop area. The use of projection mapping gave life to Milu the cat and converted white walls from black and white paisley prints to multicolored gradients.

The dawning of 2012, New Year’s Eve in New York City, Brooklyn Based duo Matt and Kim put on an exuberant performance at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Their concerts are always full of energy and excitement and this one was no exception. “At our shows, we’re very focused on the audience, and bringing them into the experience… Sometimes listeners are amazed that two people can bring so much energy to the stage. But it’s not just the energy of two people. It’s four thousand and two people,” says Matt Johnson, singer and keyboardist of Matt and Kim. Creating the full experience was of utmost importance.
TMA's experiential Event Concept artist Adam Aleksander helped to create the awe-inspiring feeling, that Matt and Kim bring to the stage. This New Year’s Eve celebration is one that won’t soon be forgotten.
