experiences
Working with dell was an experience I do not suppose I will forget so easily. I have completed quite a few internships, however, this was different.
With an excellent variety of topics that drove our creativity up the wall, we were forced to think differently, coming up with original articles that would be unanimously liked and yet be different from the rest.
The topics, however, gave us a lot of freedom. It never took us out of our comfort zone neither did it compel us to extensively research.
Competition, it brings out the best in people by forcing them to remain steadfast in spite of the building pressure. It is easy to give up but to slog is difficult, and with Dell we had to slog. Pitched against friends, old and new, this competitive internship pushed us past the points we were convinced we could not possibly go. It made us do things we definitely would not have done had there not been someone or something pushing us to do it.
“I have been up against tough competition all my life, I wouldn't know how to get along without it”- Walt Disney.
Like they say, change is the only constant phenomenon in life, to remain the same, is to stagnate. And, we will continue remaining the same if the people around us remain the same. We should not be afraid of being extraordinary. We should never be satisfied with being mediocre and unexceptional. We should be the sort of people who come back leading the pack if thrown to the wolves.
I know people who, through illimitable narcissism, single-minded obsession and unfathomable self-discipline can complete big projects without deadlines; I, however, need a looming threat to finish off any major work.
People and consequently I, respond well to deadlines because meeting them provides a distinct feeling of having achieved something within a time frame. Some say, “It’s a good way to keep score,”
Above all, to have a certificate from Dell in your CV, is in itself a massive achievement.
