Awesome history fact: the reason the 'Scouse' accent is so derided in the UK is because Liverpool overwhelmingly had the largest proportion of Irish Immigrants and that meant that England was becoming more multicultural! This caused the upper-class English dowm south to launch what functionally amounts to a defamation campaign against the whole city of Liverpool, both the native Anglo-Saxon and immigrating Irish Celt.
So, next time you're going to laugh at a scousers accent or recoil in disgust at it, ask yourself; are you about to do the King and Parliament's jobs for them?
