Hi, I saw that you reblogged a post about the parallel between the Doctor erasing Kate's memory and the Doctor saying to clara that thinking she was dead was the longest month of his life. I just wanted to ask if you had understood why the Doctor says that it's been a month, and that he'll be the only judge of time. I might have an idea but I'm not really sure, call me dumb if you want.. I didn't really get the meaning behind the dialogue
I personally don’t think it was a true parallel and more of a contrast. The Doctor being the judge of time takes on two very different meanings in both scenes - one of disturbing power in erasing Kate’s memories and one of helplessness when it comes to him dealing with Clara’s death.
It clearly hasn’t been a month between the plane crash and finding out that Clara was still alive (although longer than five minutes, I assume). Time is a strange thing, and we all experience it differently in different moments - an hour might feel ike nothing at all, 10 minutes can seem like an eternity. Grief is harsh, and even as he keeps himself together during those scenes, his statement belies just how painful it was to him, just how all-encompassing her loss became. Minutes turn into weeks of mourning in his mind.
