Coerulea remembered clearly the first time she was given her claws--Or regained them, rather, as she had come to this world declawed, like some sort of pet. 

They slipped on like gloves of a sort, albeit crafted of delicate metal and intricately carved with the tiniest patterns. The individual joints of Coerulea’s new armaments clinked together as her companion, standing before her, held her hands in his, turning them slightly to make sure his gift fit snugly enough. 

He said something about defending herself, should anyone ever try to take her from this place--His words were a haze, however, muted by the lingering thought that his touch was gentle, in screaming contrast to the harsh demeanor he radiated around his peers. 

“...Do you understand?”

Coerulea’s heart heaved a heavy thump as she snapped back to attention, her only response a slow, quiet nod.
