THAT’S THE TALE ; spun for mortals to comfort themselves as they dwindle down into decay / as their soul withers within their fleshly cages. true, the afterlife may treat them kindly if their souls are worthy of such kindness. yet, there’s a reason why death is hated / feared, there’s a reason why elaborate funerals and an abundance of treasures are stored within tombs and burial places, there’s a reason why the last breath that lifts from mortals is ugly & painful, and followed by an outcry of grief. so, as she says these words, thanatos cannot help but scoff in derision ;
