Rumours spiral out from the court of St James. King George, never having been in fine health, has supposedly fallen ill and retreated to the privacy of the castle at Windsor with a party of his closest attendants. No one knows what malady has struck the King and concerns are beginning to be raised. Will he recover? Can he still rule the country?

Tensions already high from the troubles of the ongoing war against America are climbing to a feverish height. The Whigs are beginning to circle like sharks scenting blood, angling for a regency to be established, with the Prince of Wales ruling in his father’s stead. Knowing that their government would fall with a Whig one in its wake, the Tories are playing all their cards to remain in power. 

Here we have our second event! Please tag any threads with lebontonevent.02 along with normal starter tags etc. The event will be running 7th November - 21st November game-time. Happy plotting!

NB: The event is not time sensitive, so don’t worry about rushing to finish threads. You are also welcome to plot around the event as well! You may continue old threads as well.

If the atmosphere in Brooks’s was different after the news of the King, no one commented on it. But things felt... reinvigorated. This was the chance the party had been waiting for, and whilst William could not completely revel in it, he could still enjoy the good spirits to be found. Whilst other men hunched low over tables discussing plans, William reclined in a plush armchair by the fire, allowing the warmth to soothe the dull ache in his leg that always made itself apparent when the weather turned cold.

“What do you think, Rog?” He dropped the evening newspaper down on the small table between their chairs. “It’s a little odd, is it not? To remove the King to Windsor?” He shrugged before picking up one of the glasses on the table and taking a sip. “Oh well, whatever’ll make it easier in the long run.” He could only hope that he would be offered a place at court should a regency be established. “In other news, the arrangements are coming along nicely for the wedding.”
