Qivitoq (1956). In this visual masterpiece and first Oscar nominated Danish film, young teacher Eva arriving in Greenland, surprising her fiancée in the arms of a woman. Seeking refuge, she meets a man also carrying a broken heart in the scenic landscape.

What a loving, tender film. It circles themes of intimacy, isolation and loneliness beautifully, and the connections between the characters are gently realised and tenderly felt. Plus it’s visually sublime, with a rich language to it and some really wonderful shots and set-ups. Definitely one to watch! 8/10.

Anglo-Swede duo Superhand consist of Inga Carlstrom and Leck Fischer. Their dramatic treatment for standout track Bass and Guns-- soulful blues/ electronic beat hybrid with orchestral beats--the composition could be from the 28th century-- is a mix itself of animation and real life, bizarre and colorful and brilliant. A perfect compliment to the composition. Bass and Guns will be part of their upcoming LP American Teeth (pre-order via Bandcamp)  that I have a feeling will be on my best of 2015 list at year’s end.
