Summer weaving is my treat after finishing my PhD this spring! I have time for this, my job, and my family now 🥰
The warp is just 18 inches wide and maybe? 10/2 cotton. No specific project planned for it, just making fabric and playing!

Hnnnggggg rainbow warp make brain go brrrrrr
I think this is a new record for me? Warped, dressed, woven in less than 4 days for a pretty decent length of fabric!
Pardon my phone's choppy focus as I'm drawing it off the beam, it couldn't decide if it should follow my arms or the fabric lol.
Getting to the actual weaving part of weaving is so much fun, the color patterns I designed for these towels popped so nicely and were very satisfying to see come to life out of my notebook.
Turns out pre-planning DOES go a long way /grumble grumble/
A whole bunch of my upcoming posts are gonna be throwbacks to old projects (seeing as how I love to use the draft function, and then. Forget Those Posts Are There) but I've also filmed a few videos of my current set of dishtowels from a bunch of different angles to show off the different moving parts that make up the weaving process.
I'm using my favorite tie-up/treadling pattern for dishtowels, an easy to remember 6 treadle, quick repeat that is super squishy, very absorbent and looks AMAZING. If anyone wants the handweaving.net pattern number for it lemme know and I'll post it in the comments.
Working on some festive fabric for bags, got the new heddles on (tight fit, but I made them work!! And they are now functional) and found a fun snowflake pattern to work it in.
It's not as satisfying of a click with the texsolv heddles, but the beater still gives a good thunk with each beat.
Part 3! Actually getting the warp ON the loom AND sleyed AND threaded/tied on is literally half of the process. Probably a good 50/50 for time between prep and actual weaving.
This part is getting the warp chains onto the backbeam, the counting cross set in place and anchored, (so you can count correctly when threading later!) and the warp spread out evenly in little half inch increments (the tool for this is the long stick on top of my loom called the raddle) and then I can get to proper tensioning as I wind it onto the back beam.
Gotta learn to love this part of the process or weaving would be soooooo painful. Thank all for podcasts, music, and audiobooks to make the process go smoother.
Changed up the colors and,,,, I'm love???? It's so pretty 😍
