Was voter efficacy an issue in Athens? I mean if 50,000 people are voting, did people go “eh, what I say doesn’t matter?” Or did people think it was their civic duty? Or were they Greeks so they just felt their opinion was the most important and everyone would be lost without it?
Also on the note of payment for civil service, when were pockets invented? Who said “hey, let’s stick coins in our mouths!” Was it to keep the jurors from talking excessively?
How good was the average person at counting?
What are the odds we can bring back executions for incompetence in the next 16 months?
Just general questions I thought of today during the lecture. Tomorrow should have more due to discussion.
