‘With women making up less than seven percent of cinematographers in the UK’
This article highlights the female cinematography platform ‘illuminatrix’ and how the few female cinematographers are still faced with blatant sexism in an industry that’s meant to encourage the freedom of creativity and speech. Its brought to light that for some reason within the film industry especially men are trusted more when given a job to do and people still have this preconception that women aren’t strong enough for it. This is defo something I want to address this ‘thing’ that women are weak cus that can just fuck right offffff.
Interview with Will Hudson
After giving a talk about his career path and his business ventures, Will Hudson, co-founder of design website It’s Nice That sat down with final year student Andrew Sosnowski to talk about ongoing projects.
Andrew Sosnowski: Hi Will, could you tells us a bit about yourself?
Will Hudson: I run The HudsonBec Group alongside my business partner Alex Bec. The group believes in enabling creativity to thrive and currently consists of 3 companies; media company It’s Nice That, creative agency Anyways and online resource Lecture in Progress. Currently my focus is on Lecture in Progress that launched in April of this year.

Lecture in Progress is a new project by my pal Will Hudson, an ‘educational resource to inspire and inform the next generation of creatives and help them make better career decisions’. You can Kickstart it. In part, it aims to fill in some of the empty spaces left by traditional design education. Earlier this year, I sat down with Will and bungled my way through an hour-long podcast talking about my career, from graduation to freelance to full-time employment and back to freelance again. I spent most of the time trying not to sound like a transatlantic dillweed.
