Lecture 02: All Ready Made
This lecture explained to me that nothing is new anymore, It might be a new spin on something that has been previously developed but its not new. I was quite sad to think that this is the unfortunate truth. To know that creating something new is hardly possibly in this day and age. Instead, what we can do is be inspired by someone else and not copy or plagiarise but think about how you could do something different with the same idea.
A really good example of this is the Sony Bravia TV advert with the multitude of colourful balls being released down the city streets of San Francisco then the same idea being recreated by Tango. Tango were clever with the way they did this because instead of Coloured balls, they used fruit which smashed windows and made animals scurry away and even though its obvious to see where the inspiration came from, Its a totally new spin off the same idea. Its incredible what you can get away with without it being plagiarism and in my eyes, a new spin is a new thing. I suppose I’m contradicting what I was saying from earlier but its what i believe and I think thats what art is these day.
