So what if someone wants to draw them as skinny? I've seen you be totally fine with people making thin characters fat, why is making fat characters thin worse? It's this kind of defense of fictional characters that started this mess :T

Because characters with thin bodies have always been represented in much much better and more varied ways

Condemning everyone who ever draws a fat character thin is still dumb.
