Prolly the largest/most expensive single family home I've ever built...
Ledford
It's after midnight here so you know what that means~
More build wip pictures...
Had to take a break from the manor -listen, it's just so big, and I'm setting up the Ledford family stuff at the same time. Had to do something different. So I went back to my most favorite thing, small builds.
Starting to create some empty starter homes that I'll start plopping down. Will make some variants from these, but they'll all be like this, in that they'll be pretty.... uh, bland? -A clean slate-so they can be grown into.
Again, trying to keep it as cc-light/maxis matchy as I'm capable of. I'm having a blast haha
**ALSO-was thinking of maybe sharing these? I'd run through 'em and clean them up to keep the download as easy as possible, maybe make a fully cc-free version too? Let me know if you'd be interested <3
First house of Ledford is done!
It's gonna be the home of the grounds keeper for the Ledfords (founders of the town obviously). The cottage has been here as long as the manor house has, and the old caretaker has been at his post for many decades now. So I wanted the whole place to feel dated, but cozy. It's been taken care of, but still shows its age, and has been renovated at some point but that's been awhile now too.
First foray into grid adjuster too, so that was fun. I'm also trying to keep things as cc-free as possible with this hood. Which, given the amount of cc foliage you can see immediately, might sound like I'm having a laugh. But this is honestly the most vanilla build I've made in a long long time. (Definitely helped along with a crap-ton of recolors so don't know if it really counts) But I love no-cc builds, they remind me how much awesome stuff is actually in this game that I've just ignored/forgotten about cause of my addiction. So I'm trying to be good and reacquaint myself haha
Random late night post of yet *another* hood I'm working on.
With District i0 I have a fun, but specific, theme, with more of a story/world building focus. Liminall, my current BACC, is a wildly specific aesthetic, and limited with the challenge. So I've been craving just some... normal(?) gameplay. Now, I have a neighborhood for this. My beautiful Navilly where it all started 20+ years ago. With sims I have an extreme love for. However, that hood is *20+* years old. She's still kickin' but god at what cost (mostly my sanity and the tenuous stability my sims cling to).
.... So introducing Ledford! A small quiet harbor town smashed into the side of a large mountain range. Rusted out and used up, it just feels a little off, haunted by the ghosts of what it used to be, but too important of a port to let fall to ruin completely.
This is the self satisfied face of a sim who won.
Meet Damian Ledford. As some of you may know this is the absolute asshole who's been cursing my game for weeks now. He's defied everything I've thrown at him. Refusing to die properly no matter what I did to him or the game itself. I've never heard of a single sim being incompatible with a mod before, but behold. The one and only. Damian here for some reason doesn't work with Better Ghosts. With that mod in he refused to stay in the Default family, instead becoming a townie (still dead though) time and again.
And he finally broke me.
He's earned his place as a Ledford cryptid. A ghost story.
If I can't keep him out of the townie pool. So be it. If he shows up as a ghost walk-by, that's just a local legend. Every small town needs one.
I can't believe he forced himself into being a goddamn main character
After coming to terms with powers greater than I, we're back to late night build wips-
A lovely little duplex this time. Gonna be in the middle of the main residential area, across from the school, but at the moment it's feeling very lonely on this hill... (nice view of the port though)
---Update in Comments!
Alright... need help with a sim who won't stay dead
Yeah. So, technically he is dead. Using the sim manipulator, he died of disease. Previously I'd used the manipulator to kill off the older generations by old age, and they've all died properly and have stayed properly dead.
At first I didn't see anything wrong, his tombstone generated just fine, and I was able to move it to the cemetery with no trouble. In fact I wouldn't have realized anything was wrong till I was in SimPE working on something completely unrelated when I saw he was listed under 'Townies' rather than 'Uneditable', and had kept his Household rather than being moved into 'Default'. I then thought I'd fixed it, using the teleporter to teleport him to the original lot, and then the game did the whole 'died on another lot' deal and he was properly moved into Default and uneditable. Killed off his wife to old age, and she's also totally fine and has stayed totally fine.
Thought it was all good, till I pulled up one of his kids, and they had the memories, "Damien died"> "Damien got engaged"> "Damien got married".... I pull him up again in SimPE (he still was properly set) and found all of his memories were like... defaulted? As if he were made in CAS, rather than having been born in game (and all the fussing I'd done under the hood as it were to set up the story). Odd but ultimately fine if not frustrating, I'll fix the still alive family memories later.
But then today I'm going through one of his daughters relationship panel in SimPE trying to find someone and there the fucker is, under the wrong Household again and moved into the 'Townie' category.
TLDR: Is it ok for a dead sim, if they're otherwise behaving normally, to not be in the Default household, and technically a townie? Why won't he stay in the default household? What have I done and is this going to be a problem later down the road?
