āSo this guitar is essentially irreplaceable to youā āOh, absolutely! I mean, you could say that about any guitar, but as far as I go itās absolutely irreplaceable. Itās unique. Itās my mistress. Itās my wife.ā (Jimmy talking about his Gibson Les Paul)
Jimmy Page + The Yardbirds (1967)
Robert Plant (1969)
Led Zeppelin, led by the shrieking of Robert Plant, had in it three very fine musicians. Drummer John Bonham performed one of the best solos Iāve ever heard, and lead guitar Jimmy Page played excellently. On bass guitar was John Paul Jones. However, Plantās singing detracted from any musical effect the group had. He simply mimicked the lead guitar with his voice... very entertaining. But the crowd loved it, not permitting the group to leave until they had completed a half-hour encore. (Mark Gindesās review of Led Zeppelinās show at the Anaheim Convention Center)
