Tickletober Day 17: Underwater
[sfw tickle fic!! genshin impact — switch!sara, switch!kokomi (because they can never let the other win)]
prompt by @/lovelynim
me and my monster gf rival under the sea...
Sara floundered, as her garments and feathers floated around her, feeling ridiculous with her cheeks swollen with air and her eyes squeezed shut. She’d opened her eyes once underwater and did not wish to make the same mistake, even as Kokomi’s muffled voice came through the pressure, telling her, “You can relax now.”
Her hands rose first, and Sara found Kokomi’s through the wall of… whatever mystical airtight barrier Kokomi had crafted. Following, her knees gently hit the surface of the space. She opened her eyes last, and, through her mask, met Kokomi’s amused periwinkle.
"Hey, Sara! Watch this!"
The redhead looked on helplessly from a safe distance on the couch as her best friend tried (and failed) to juggle three plastic balls. This was his sixteenth or seventeenth attempt that day, and he had shown absolutely no sign of improvement. She humored him once more, but after a few seconds his trick ended with him throwing one ball at his own face and nearly tripping over the others he'd dropped on the ground. Sara burst into laughter without thinking.
"Hey!!" he whined, crossing his arms with a frown. "Don't laugh!"
"Sorry," she said through soft giggles. "You just looked so determined. It was cute."
While she laughed at his expense, she failed to notice the mischievous glint in his eye and the way he was steadily advancing towards her.
"You think that's funny, huh? Why don't I give you something to laugh about?"
By the time she realized what was happening, it was too late. He was closing in, and his tone hinted at what was coming next.
"Wait, Joe!! Nooo-AHAHAHAA!!"
He pounced on her, digging under her arms as she squealed and tried her best to fight him off. She curled up her legs in defense, but he climbed over her and straddled her waist to pin her down. His hands clamped down like lobster claws, gently tickling her ribs as they descended down her sides. Her laughter increased in volume and pitch as she struggled to form words.
"Not so funny now, is it?"
"Jooooooe! Pleeheeheease!!"
"Say you're sorry!!"
"OKAHAHAHAHAHAY I'M SORRYYYYY!!"
Unsatisfied, he tickled her underarms again until she practically screamed.
"Say you love meee~!"
"FINE!! I lo-HAHAHAHAHA!- I love you!"
He finally stopped, grinning victoriously as he watched Sara try to catch her breath. A faint smile and a few leftover giggles remained on her lips, giving her a lovely glow that Joe couldn't help but admire. Her hair was a mess, most of it coming out of her ponytail from the struggle. He brushed some of it out of her face and fought the urge to kiss her cheek.
"Aww... I actually don't mind if you laugh at me, Sara! I could listen to it all day."
He didn't exactly mean for the last part to come out. He felt his cheeks redden and clumsily tried climbing off, but she grabbed his arms and pulled him into a hug so tight he could feel her breath on his skin. His arms wrapped around her in return, and for a while they just laid there. Enjoying each other's closeness.
"Say it back," she suddenly demanded, mumbling into his chest. At first confused, it dawned on him that he hadn't returned the sentiment. His smile pressed into her arm, and he sat up just for a moment so he could say-
"I love you, too."
“Are you comfortable?”
Sara heard the nervous whisper in her ear right as she had gotten herself situated. She was laying on her side with her legs curled up while Joe somewhat cradled her back. His arm cautiously moved to wrap itself around her waist; she could sense the worried thoughts raging in his head.
“Yeah. This is really nice.”
“Are you sure?” Another nervous question. It was kinda cute, the way he was so timid about touching her. She liked that he wanted to make sure of things. “If it starts feeling weird or bad then let me know and I’ll back off!”
“You’re fine, Joe,” she said, half laughing. That seemed to help him relax. He finally put his hand on her side, gently brushing her waist which made her giggle. It was so unexpected and adorable, he had to say something.
“Ticklish?” He asked with a smirk.
“Maybe!” Instinctively, she started to squirm.
He flittered his fingers lightly down her sides, pretending like his movements were absent minded when he was more focused than ever. Listening for her hitched breaths and muffled squeals. Watching her body shiver and twitch just from his hands alone. It was intoxicating, the reaction he was getting from the most feather-soft touches.
“Okay, okahahay! It’s too much!” Sara complained through her laughter. Hearing that made him grin even more, but he stopped right away and pulled her in closer so her back rested on his chest. He smiled into her hair, enjoying the smell of her floral shampoo.
“I like you a lot, Sara,” he said without thinking, regretting it immediately. Until she said it back, almost as quickly and easily as he.
“I really like you too.”
He felt her hand sneak its way into his. She gave it a light squeeze, and in response he pressed his lips against her back.
