He just- He needed to get away. He needed a break from the noise. The screaming of the crowds, the fear in people’s eyes when they caught a glimpse of him. The anger building up underneath the thin paper mask. He hadn’t what had happened to him. Hadn’t that he’d never be able to have a normal life because of it. Hated how people ran for him, reviled as a monster. He knew the paper bag didn’t help. He knew he looked scarier with his face concealed, but he couldn’t help it. He felt deformed and ugly. Crimes that the world showed little pity for. But, he could deal with the ridicule, the scorn, hate and cheer if it couldn’t get back to him. If people didn’t know who was under the mask then it wouldn’t reflect badly upon the police department. So when his shirt was off, the mask would stay on. If he couldn’t be the poster boy for the department, if how he looked would reflect badly on HGPD, then he wouldn’t let anyone know it’s him.
Ducking into the ferris wheel cart, Dor sat down closing his eyes and letting out a small sigh. He just wanted to feel like he wasn’t as much of a mess like he thought he was. Letting his eyes flicker open, he blinked past the paper, taking in the sunset off in the distance. The sun casted it’s golden rays down upon the clouds of billowing smoke, turning them bright red, fire red. It was beautiful, he could help but think, his lips bearing the semblance of a smile. He wished he could stay here for the rest of the Jam. He wished someone would someday look at him like he was looking at the sun. Wished he was someone who burned bright instead of someone who hide in the dark. Someone worth sticking around for.
He was lost in thought when he felt someone slip into the seat beside him, looking over his eyes widened when they settled upon Lee. Fuck. The last thing he wanted was to be trapped on a ride with him of all people. Trapped with the ex who wanted nothing to do with him and trapped pretending like he was somewhat all right with it all. Jumping to his feet, Dor attempted to get off the ride but it was too late. The bar had already come down and they were starting to move now. Dor let out a sigh taking off his mask and placing it in his lap, suddenly all too aware of Lee’s presence and the fact that he was sitting there not only shirtless but also in a pair of swim trucks no less.
