Kitty smiled at him. “You’re sweet. I’ll just be really happy if I can help,” she said, with a little shrug. And then she brightened. “Oh, that reminds me. I made a bunch of test recipes at home, and I need a taster. You interested? We could snack and research.”
“If anyone can do it, it will be you,” He told her with a sweet smile. “Are you kidding? Of course. I’d love to.”
“This little girl came into the bookstore this afternoon, and she looks at me and goes, totally deadpan, ‘was your mommy a giraffe?’ I didn’t want to burst her bubble or anything, so I just said yes. I’m not 100% sure how I should feel about this right now.”
“Embrace it? I always wanted to be part giraffe,” He chuckled grinning over at him.

“You love me,” Issy joked as she flipped through some books. “So it’s pretty much you can bring them back in the state they’re in currently,” Issy said tapping her chin before flipping to a page in on of the books she’d marked. “Hallucinations? Okay,” She chewed on her bottom lip for a moment. “A lot of these books talk about side effects of the magic. I mean it makes sense there would be a cost but maybe there is a way to counteract the side effects. Maybe a spell or a potion that could help with the side effect.” Issy suggested with a shrug of the shoulders. “What do you think? Too risky?”
“Yeah I do,” He chuckled, shaking his head over at her happily. “I guess when you put it that way, then yeah?” He nodded. “No. I think we should try it. I mean what do we have to loose right/ If there’s a cure for the side effects then-” He paused, trying to hold back the hopeful expression in his eyes as he spoke. Then maybe, just maybe, he could bring his parents back and it would be okay.

“It would take an eternity for me to get over our epic relationship and beautiful life. I’ll turn back into the bitter man I once was.” Zane couldn’t help but to laugh at the image in his head of those Christmas cards. “They’d look so good, people would fancy one every holiday. Halloween included.”
“That’s it. The answer is simple. We’ll just have to Romeo and Juliet it,” Ryder laughed, grinning over at Zane. “It would be the Monet of Holiday Cards.”

Kitty smiled at him and shook her head. “Thank you,” she said, although she didn’t really know about that. “I just want to help. You deserve it.”
“I don’t know what I’d do without you, Kitty. You know that?” He told her with a smile.

“Ryder…You’re even better…I can promise you that.” Alexa felt like her smile would forever stay etched onto her face at this point. “If my heart could, I’m sure it would have been racing or skipped a beat right about now.” If she thought this was something, when he opened the the driver’s side door and handed her a key, she launched herself at him, giving him one kiss after another. “You’re…the most amazing man I’ve every met and I don’t know what I’ve done in life to deserve you. Please pinch me so I know I’m not in some comatose dream where I just made up this amazing guy that takes my breath away and does this. For me. All I ever need is you and then you add in this car. A car that’s almost as incredible as you.” She thought about the question of where she wanted to go and she was too stunned to even pick a place. “I-I don’t even know. I haven’t really been outside Hollow Grove in the time since I came here. Anywhere outside of here. One day maybe home to Seattle. Honestly, we could go anywhere and all that would matter is that I’m with you.”
“You can hear mine, can’t you?” He told her with a little chuckle, knowing it was pounding against his chest as he looked at her. Man, she was beautiful, He couldn’t help but think. Inside and out. Ryder couldn’t help, but smile, wrapping his arms around Alexa as he pressed his lips back against hers. He had never been the best at knowing how to handle a compliment, but as he held his girl in his arms, all he could think was how he was lucky. Here he was, out in the open, no glamour on, with a girl who was too stunning for words reassuring him that he was good enough. Being with her made him rethink everything his uncle had ever said about him. She made him think that maybe he wasn’t the deformed monster his family had made him out to be. He still didn’t he would ever be good enough for her, but as they stood against the side of the car, the sun setting behind the trees, he knew he wanted to try to be. “Why don’t we just go to Seattle, then?” He offered up, reaching over to her and tucking one of her pink strands of hair back behind her ears. He had the money. His family had a plane. And he wanted to do this for her. It was the first date he had gone on in a long time and he wanted to make it special.

“Don’t act like this isn’t how its always been,” Issy said tossing him a teasingly look as she slipped into the mill. “You know on second thought maybe no zombie bunnies alright. I have too good of hair to become a brain eater.” Issy said as she pulled a few books and from her bag and some candles. “I mean if you really want to jump right in with the bunnies we can?” Issy said in all seriousness. Carefully she lowered herself to sit, something a little more difficult with her growing tummy. “What kind of side effect did you see from the last time you did it?” Issy asked him as she flipped the book open to the page she’d tagged.
“Ouch. Right to the heart with that one, huh, Cresswell?” He chuckled, following in after her. “Alright. No zombie bunnies. Yet,” He grinned, sitting down next to her on the floor. “Nah. Books is good. And with Bones, not really anything. I mean he never really left my side though. I couldn’t make it like stick with him? So, whenever I wasn’t around, I’d revert him back to well... bones? But, then I tried on Jackson during the event. I didn’t- I wasn’t thinking and he seemed fine at first. Alive at least? But, he’s had hallucinations. Lots of them. But, he’s also a permanent, you know, being?”

“Well, for your life perhaps. Mine tends to span an eternity.” Zane gave a hearty chuckle. “I can see it now our mixed babies with blue eyes and dimples. They’d be quite the genetic bunch, passing those genes on to grandkids. We’d create the most handsome children in the world. Helping the earth, one beautiful offspring at a time.” Zane had to chuckle even harder at that, knowing that it wasn’t even a possibility considering his vampirism and gender.
“Brag all you want, but you’re the one whose going to have to morn my death,” He joked, grinning over at his new found friend. “Not to mention, we’d have the best looking Christmas Card on the entire block,” He joked, playing along.

Kitty gave soft laugh. “Yeah, unfortunately,” she said, with a soft little smile and a shake of her head. “Sometimes doing the smart thing really sucks.” She looked at him and nodded, offering another smile. “Of course I’ll help you.”
“It sometimes does, doesn’t it? Stupid logic,” He laughed, grinning over at her with a thankful expression. “Thank you so much, Kitty. You really are the best. You know that?”

Alexa had probably changed clothes four or five times, and redid her makeup more times than she could count. She was about to head back to her room once more for another change of everything when she heard the start of a song she’d known very well. It was coming from outside. She frowned and opened her door and the frown disappeared immediately. He was standing there with a really amazing car with a red bow on it, holding a rose and she took in the scenery for about two seconds before her eyes just landed on him and they didn’t leave. It was almost as if her breath caught in her throat just taking in the scene. She felt…over the moon. She felt almost in a state of disbelief just like Sam had in Sixteen Candles. Alexa stood there for a moment, her smile so wide her cheeks would eventually hurt if she kept it up. “Yeah, yes. But I think you’ve suddenly made me like this real life moment a lot better.” Her heart felt so full right now. “You look so handsome,” she said as she walked over to him, feeling almost shy as walked toward him “It’s not too much at all. You really are my dream man, I hope you know that.”
“What can I say? I wanted to be your Jake Ryan,” He said with a light shrug, his smile brightening as he took her in. She really was stunning. “Not as beautiful as you,” Ryder told her, taking a step closer towards her as he spoke. Leaning over, he tilted up her chin so that his gaze could meet hers. “You are breathtaking, Alexa Sawyer,” He said, giving her a little wink. Kissing the top of her forehead lightly, he pulled back just enough so that he could grab the door handle of the driver’s seat and open it up for her. “I’m only human, Lex,” He chuckled, not taking his eyes off of her. “But, here,” He told her, placing the key into the palm of her hand as he beamed over at her. “It’s all yours. Where ever you want to go, just say the word and we will.”

“Well for starters you can be a gentleman and take this ridiculously heavy bag from me.” She said shoving it towards him. It was filled with all the spell books she’d been able to find that related to his powers. “Come on,” She said leading him into the Mill through a broken door on the side. “I mean you can start with raising a bunny but if the zombie bunnies eat you, I claim no responsibility.” Issy joked. “I brought along half the books I own that mention your magic. Maybe we can get an understanding of the side effects of it, see if there is anything anyone has ever found to combat it proactively.” Issy suggested.
“Oh, is that what I am now?” He chuckled, taking the bag from her, before following after her into the Mill. “Deal. But, if the zombie bunny gives you zombie rabies and we end up the cause of the zombie apocalypse I’m blaming it on you,” He joked back, a eased smile creeping onto his face as he spoke. “So, reading? Look at us being the most anticlimactic knock off Harry Potters,” He teased some more, before giving her a little nod and saying,”But, okay. Reading I can do.”

“Oh I’ll talk pie to you all day long, but I’m done having one sided conversation with the pies.” She listened to his news and stuck out her bottom lip in a pout. “No! Not the Car Bandit. I was rooting for them. Are they cute? Do they need a place to stay once out on bond? I do love me a good rebel.” She laughed at him simply saying the word shook and nodded along. “I’ll take that deal. But what could you possibly do to entertain me? I’m a tough critic on entertainment.” It was a total lie. Watching cat videos on youtube could keep Ronnie occupied for hours. “One pie o’ the day, coming right up, sir!”
“Chocolate Rhubarb not being the most talkative today is it?” He teased, flashing her a smile. “Only you would ask if they were cute. He’s 5′2, in his mid 30′s and lives at home with her mom. Oh and his name is Faulkner Mill. Want me to forward you his number?” He laughed, shaking his head over at her as he spoke. “I think I can come up with some ideas. How about a magic trick? Why thank you, miss,” He grinned, giving her a playful bow.

Kitty smiled a little. “I know that’s not really what you want to hear,” she said gently. “It probably sounds better to just go ahead and do something – but you have to at least try to learn more about it.” She smiled and shook her head. “Not really, no. It’s too dangerous now, I guess.”
“Not really. But it’s the smart thing to do, huh?” He said with a little shrug. “You wouldn’t want to maybe help me with it, would you?” He asked, knowing he could probably get all the help he could get.

“Now would be a bad time to admit that I did and still do have a motorcycle as one of my forms of transportation, wouldn’t it?” Zane chuckled. “It was indeed fate. People harassing the HGPD, me offering you a place to hide out. I’m fairly sure these are the stories people write about.”
“Are you trying to be stuck with me for life?” Ryder chuckled, grinning over at him. “Something we can tell our grandkids,” He teased.
