Hello, ok idk about you but I feel like David is one of the most interesting characters and development on the show? Even at the beginning you can see he has a good heart even though he’s kind of a brat, like how he would call all the embassy’s to get Alexis out of whatever situation she got into, or how he tried to make a career out of himself with the art gallery, even though unknowingly his parents kind of funded all the artwork and stuff. 1/?

Like he’s already made something for himself. All he needed to do was come out of his shell and not build walls, which you can even see the beginning of when he wants Stevie to come with him to NY because before he probably just did everything alone or had friends but no one he really cared about THAT much etc. 2/?

I think it’s in s4 though when you see the most obvious changes with Patrick because that’s when he’s probably come out of his shell and is much more open with himself and less insecure. 3/?

Also I want to add the scene that sticks with me the most is when they get that giant cheque, and David is the one whose like we’ve gotta save rather than spend it all. Where as before he probably spent it all etc. I think also it shows development for the rest of the Rose’s because when they decide on how to celebrate it’s like they were so happy to celebrate something as small as a pedicure/manicure which probably was taken for granted. 4/?

I think though we shouldn’t forget Alexis’ development. I think apart from David who kind of had it in him all along (disagree with me?), she really grows as a character, and becomes more mature romantically. Like how she treats her relationships in the first two seasons (she’ll leave, kinda like David haha, actually I really love how they both say that the people they’re in a relationship with, it’s the longest one. 5/?

But also the whole thing about leaving SC, she’d rather start new with her company instead of going back to her old life etc). Side note does DL love parallels because I’ve been rewatching s1 and there are SO many parallels between all characters (mostly David and Alexis). I like how she’s willing to go to school and university and learn new stuff, I feel like normally with a character like hers writers will often will just dumb her down and stuff. 6/?

I think Moira also is maybe a character that quickly develops because you can see how in s1 and 2 she kind casts herself out, but in s3 and 4 it’s more she’s accepted that she’ll probably not get out for a while, so she may as well try and make the town better through council. Not only that she integrates herself through the community by attending the jazzagirls etc. 7/?

I feel like with John it’s more him realising that his kids are becoming more self reliant, and accepting that in some ways (when he comes home drunk, and he’s upset that David is doing well for himself and he doesn’t have a job etc)… Also when he helps Stevie with the motel. 8/?

I had this idea that what will happen is the Rosebudd motel will become a franchise towards the end of the show and what will happen is that they’ll have the opportunity to leave Schitt’s Creek but I think they’ll most likely just choose to stay since they’ve really integrated into the community and for Alexis and David that’s where they SO’s are etc. thank you for coming to my ted talk 9/9
