My fiancé was a leftist hardliner as a youth. Talking to him now, I realize that for most leftists one's youth (and poss. middle age) is spent idolizing the cool "rock star" revolutionaries. One's latter years are spent realizing that these same idols were still human and also bigoted dickwads.

When did “men and women are equal” become “men and women are the same?”

Like you feel that way when someone opens the door for you, but not when you have to pay the bills? You feel that way when you want to take off as many clothes as possible without consequences but not when it comes to actually majoring in a useful degree, participating in parliament, or supporting the bulk of the family’s financial affairs without breaks?

It seems that third wave feminists want the power they perceive men to have, the privilege they know women already have, and the responsibilities of neither.
