where i’ve been...

this is included in the bottom author’s note of my new fic, but i wanted to post it here too.  just to sort of explain where i've been and what's been up, because some people know, but a lot of people don't.  about two years ago i was diagnosed with some really shitty stuff.  incurable stuff.  stuff that means extraneous hobby things like writing and fandom were impossible.  after way too many months of (horrible, painful, invasive) weekly treatments, and no help at all, i finally found a doctor who got things somewhat under control.  it's been a slow-ass journey to get to a point where i could even turn on my laptop again, but i'm here.  i'm trying.  i'm writing.

i don't know what the future holds.  last week they found a mass crowding up my insides and being an absolute shit. (as masses tend to do)  i have surgery later this month to remove it, and then the waiting game of biopsies and results, and i'm really NOT looking forward to any of that.  so if you could all just have a lot of fun with me doing the fandom thing right now, that would be incredibly helpful.  i need a distraction from the scary stuff looming on the horizon.  have fun with me, guys.  that's all i ask.

so i had my pre-op appt yesterday and now i’m waiting to hear which day next week is the surgery.  i’m a little nervous.  however, last time i really enjoyed the pre-general anesthesia shot of whatever the hell they gave me, and apparently waved at everyone in the OR and asked how their day was. then afterwards i had a long chat with my husband about being a balloon, and i don’t even remember it. good times.

please don’t take this the wrong way but

i kinda want more lefty representation in media, like when was the last time you saw a character w/ ink smudged on their hand? held a sword with their left hand? idk i just want some more obvious representation. if anyone can find some popular lefty characters for me that would be nice.

Stop whining about how everyone else has “bad politics” and about your utter disdain for the rest of the left.  Pull your goddamned pants up and do some actual goddamned political work if you want things to get better, but you actually don’t, you just want to wank on about how much smarter you are than everybody else and write smug condemnations of “identity politics” while endlessly talking over women and POC.  If you’re so upset about the left, either fix it or fucking leave, people like you scare newbies out of the movement with your endless fucking shitty complaining and complete lack of action.

Like I Don’t Want To Be A Leader

I want to be part of a mass.  I want like political education and strategic knowledge I can easily share, so that we can all be organizers, so that I’m not some top down specialist with specialized knowledge I don’t share.  I don’t want to be a puppet master, I don’t want to tell people what’s best for them.

“Without a state your family could just help you” is a terrible answer to some disabled peoples hesitation to be anarchist if they rely on state assistance and government programs to survive.

It doesn’t account for shitty families, for an otherwise good families’ tendency to overstep a disabled adults boundaries and infantilize them, and it also creates a reliance on the economic family unit. That shouldn’t be happening in a classless, moneyless, stateless society.

Things that were originally state run being worker-run in a decentralized way should be the goal here, not hippy bullshit like “drugs are just chemicals, maaan! Your mum can take care of you, who needs doctors and colleges!!” 

^I’m being salty here, but the point still sands.

most artists either A) take a working class job to support themselves or B) live in deep poverty

neither of those things is bourgeois, you have to be very divorced from reality to think most artists afford downtown new york studios and have millionaire patrons

and you know who DID have millionaire patrons? Diego Riviera. and you know what he painted? Communist stuff.

My politics are like “Revolutionary anti-authoritarian (but not necessarily anarchist, some Marxists/Trots/leftcoms/etc and so on are also okay, and like a lot of post-left anarchists/individualist anarchists aren’t) anti-capitalists who are willing to adapt their theoretical positions when presented with evidence of how they work in practice and are basically good hearted and want the best for people “ should all work together to create revolution and then cooperate to create a better society, because ultimately they should care more about how their policies work than theoretical purity.
