It hadn’t been Anthony’s idea to kidnap Philipe. In fact, he’d been completely against it. There was no reason to take the young man when what they wanted was his dad. Still, they’d found Philipe and taken him somewhere he wouldn’t be found, a building in the middle of nowhere. They’d roughed him up when he didn’t give up information and then left him alone for the night, Anthony being set to watch him.

Once things had calmed for the night, Anthony slipped into the room where Philipe was, which just had a cot for him to sleep and a boarded up window in it, and moved towards the young man. He could see the damage that had been done and winced in sympathy, though he himself had a few visible bruises from when he’d gone against Lester.

“Hey, pass me over a beer, will ya?” Raoul urged, his back leaned up against the tree while his dirt bike sat off a ways propped up on its own stand. Had he been bored out of his mind? Without a doubt. Had he decided that it was just about time to drag his buddy out and let them both have a good time for once and enjoy themselves? Absolutely. Out here, Raoul didn’t have to necessarily worry about being recognized, didn’t have to worry about somebody pushing record and blowing something out of proportion to get their few minutes in fame. 

Raoul had grown up around publicity and the limelight being cast on him... it didn’t mean it got any easier to deal with the older he got. “So what do you think about actually going out and doing something tonight? Tear up the town like we used to?” Raoul prompted, taking the beer before cracking it open.

Sera was never sure about new people. Sometimes, like the ‘Quiz, they were okay. Sometimes, like Cole, they were weird little magic-spirit things. And sometimes they were assholes like Solas.

New Mages always made her twitchy. It wasn’t just that they had magic, were magic. It was the comfort they had with it. Something that could explode everything or hurt so many people, and it wasn’t really understandable unless you had it, and okay, maybe it can help and fix people and-

Magic wasn’t fun. Wasn’t like pranks. Wasn’t easy to understand like an arrow or a knife. And now there was another new one, that the ‘Quiz just wants to drag around all the time, just like her, and sometimes they’d be going round together and- 

Okay. So maybe Sera should meet him. Might be an idea. Even if he’s a tricky-wicky mage, they were going to be stuck with each other if the ‘Quiz had anything to say about it, especially now she wasn’t allowed out with Solas... for now... 

“Oi, you. You’re Ciaran, right? New person?” Maybe not that new, just. New to her. Maybe she didn’t talk to people enough when they weren’t directly in line with her interests, okay, that’s a fair thing to say, but it hadn’t been a problem before. No one needs to be a friend until they’ve got to be. “I’m Sera. Boss says we need to be friends. I guess.”

my first impression of your muse: Philipe is adorable and a nervous little guy and, quite frankly, deserves the world. that last part might be Anthony talking

my favorite thing about you: Honestly, I love how excited you can get for things.

Anthony had grown very fond of Philipe very quickly and he found he enjoyed his company a lot more than he’d thought he would. Of course, that didn’t cure the traveler of his wanderlust. Once staying in place got too much for him, he told the young man that he’d be leaving for a couple of weeks and gave him a day to meet him at the clearing that he’d come to see as theirs.

Once he returned, he waited until nighttime to go meet the younger man, the gift he’d gotten for him hidden in his jacket. He moved silently as he walked towards the viscount, stopping a few feet away to admire him for a moment before saying, “There’s my beautiful guiding star.”

“As do I,” King Anthony said with a charming smile, taking the younger man’s hand in his own and pressing a kiss to the back of it. There was no harm in being affectionate with his soon to be husband after all. As he straightened up, his smile turned more crooked and genuine, his more humble background showing through. “I’m sure we have much to learn about each other.” 

This wasn’t even his idea, this was the idea of his advisors and he wasn’t one to argue. After all, he still had a lot to learn about ruling a kingdom. He let his eyes drift over Philipe’s form and then offered his arm. “Why don’t we take advantage of the time we have right now? Would you like to join me for a walk?” He tilted his head with a sweet smile.
