With the final auction cards tucked away for review, and the party reaching a high with the climax of the last Weird Sisters song of the night, you shuffle back away from the main stage, cheeks still glowing as you grab a glass of champagne from a passing waiter. As you drink, you take stock of the other patrons, now buzzing from the music and drink, taking note of the excited conversations about who bid for what.
Just as you’re about to join in on one of these conversations with colleagues you recognize from work, the clearing of a throat catches your attention and the chatter around you subsides. You all turn your attention back to the main stage where the auction items are lined up prettily behind the esteemed hosts. It’s time, the Minister announces jovially, to reveal the winners of the auction. Everyone perks up and watches as Madam Zabini steps forward with a sealed envelope, handing it to the Minister with a smile.
As each name is read off the list, people clap — some enthusiastically, and some with drawling disappointment — faces are turned up in shock or pride, and bulbs flash as photographs are taken with the winners and their prizes. They’re just about half way down the list when the next announcement lights up a spark of commotion.
“The gift basket containing joke items yet to be released — donated generously by Zonko’s Joke Shop — is awarded to Mister James Potter!” In that instant the crowd gasps as the gift basket lights up in flames with a roar as it’s dropped from the assistant’s arms. It starts to build as people back away from the stage, but something about the fire doesn’t sit right with you.
THE FIENDFYRE HAS BEEN RELEASED
And just as you realize it, it’s already too late, the fiendfyre waving around and catching on everything in its path as it snakes around the stage and further into the house. People are clamoring out of the room, some quickly disapparating from the scene — though not successfully enough as some people are splinched in the process — and others stay trapped with too many people fumbling around and the chaos of the fire caging them in. Aurors try to disperse them as quickly as possible and long enough to evacuate the masses, but the fiendfyre moves too fast, too aggressively, too passionately.
The fiendfyre will take place in-game July 14th at 8:40 PM to the end of the gala, but for us, it will take place all this week ( August 20th — August 27th ). You are more than welcome to continue doing replies from earlier in the gala however we will not be allowing any closed starters for this part of the event! Please tag your open starters legatum:fiendfyre and be careful not to get burned!
