Legend S01E01, Birth of a Legend
7/15/21
Fair warning, there’ll be plenty of SGA posts tomorrow for its 17th anniversary. I’ve been too heartsore to resume Blood Ties. I know I ought to prioritize ST: TOS, XWP, & OUAT over a SGA rewatch but I really do miss it.
I still need to rewatch “Inauguration” for this month’s SG-1 post. That post is planned for the show’s 24th anniversary. I really do want to do something special next year for the quarter-century anniversary; just need to figure out what.
Recently I rewatched the 2009 BBC Emma miniseries, which was as lovely as I remembered. It’s not perfect but I do have a soft spot for this adaptation.
The wedding episode was adorable and I’m looking forward to the rest of Ultra Adventures. I haven’t been watching Journeys in order, but I’m pretty delighted by it. It’s definitely going to be a ‘watch purely for fun’ project instead of reviewing it, especially with all the callbacks, quite a few of which I don’t get. This past year I have been relying on Pokémon for a lot of my serotonin. The anime is just so cheery.
“Enter Macbeth” was a solid episode with lots of action. Similarly, I suspect I’d struggle with reviewing Gargoyles given its density. I am enjoying what I’ve seen of it, though.
I’m six episodes into Princess Tutu; I love it but my scheduled reviews have been very short so far. There hasn’t been anything that has gotten me to go in-depth about yet. Part of the problem is that I previously read several other per-episode reviews before getting the show, so I haven’t really found an undiscussed angle yet.
In contrast to the above shows, “Birth of a Legend” was underwhelming & clichéd. Richard Dean Anderson & John de Lancie do bounce off each other in a fun way, but I’m not sure if that’ll make up for the rest of Legend. The sepia filter doesn’t help either. Still, at just a dozen episodes it shouldn’t take long to get through.
“Until Sunset” was a decent clip show, and I’m curious about the upcoming “Dream Battle”. It’s hard to believe that I’m not just nearly done with Lost Galaxy, meaning I’m going to have watched & reviewed the first 700 episodes of the franchise.
Eventually I ought to get around to the newer seasons, but I’m concerned. Samurai wasn’t well received; I don’t know how well Megaforce balanced its actual team with the guest stars; apparently Dino Charge had a weird ending; I haven’t heard much period about Ninja Steel; evidently Beast Morphers was good but I’m unsure how to get it; and Dino Fury is still airing.
But mostly, I have plenty of other media that I ought to watch first. So much media.
i don't ship them but i love their old couple dynamic
uh-oh, somebody’s misappropriating bracketed verses again...
