the undeniable vastness of the spirit realm never ceases to amaze her. so many variations - innumerable possibilities and peculiarities, each more spectacular than the last - it’s enough to keep even a vastaya learning new things for the entirety of their long lives. each region she visits brings something different, a new way that the spirits play and interact with the world of the living, each delightful in it’s own right and some… some are a little unsettling. but it’s the way the spirit realm is being used that’s the issue, not the spirits themselves.

the woman before her is proof of that.

“ does if feel strange? ” perhaps it’s rude to ask, but the question has been gnawing at the back of her mind for ages now. aurora’s nose twitches as she looks up at senna with unfiltered awe and curiosity. “ being corporeal, i mean? after spending so long intangible. i remember it took some getting used to for me - hopping between realms, that is. is it different for you? ”

After weeks of being part of this peculiar team of shadow fighters, Diana couldn't wrap her mind about them. Mostly a loner, her calling was as unexpected as becoming an aspect. The darkness should be her element, the night her home and still, the mist corrupted everything: light and dark equally. Her powers weren't enough to fight against the wraiths that invaded the sacred lands of Mount Targon. Not even the Gods nor their aspects were able to stop the Ruined King and even Atreus, or at least his dead body, was resurrected to be controlled by him. The odds weren't in their favor. Until the woman with bright green eyes and the biggest cannon she'd every seen cleared the skies with a ray of light that could compare to that of the aspect of the Sun. Their arrival was welcomed but not without its doubts. Her pride was wounded to cooperate at first but their speech was convincing enough for her to join them momentarily. Now here she was, sitting in the Sentinels headquarters contemplating the fireplace, the sound of the chirping wood calming her nerves slightly. "What are we going to do next? The mist is still strong and expanding marciless. Will we be able to save the world from its corruption?" The rapidfire question left in a whisper to the woman standing behind her.

viktor had no idea how jayce managed to persuade him into this , but he was currently brooding away at a function . a ' party ' if you could even call it that ─── full of tailored smiles and forced laughter . mingling and schmoozing . oh how he yearned to be back in the lab buried in his notes .

it seemed like no matter how many years went by overlapping the time he'd lived in the undercity he never quite shook some of his upbringing . how he ached for blatant honesty , to cut to the chase and skip the formalities , this idle sweet talk was sure to turn his hair grey .

although jayce was nowhere to be found ─── swept off by his adoring supporters no doubt ─── viktor's eyes had still landed on another familiar face ... mel . he breathed a sigh of relief as his eyes bore into her like a cats , as if he was trying to beg her to stay where she was , give him a reason to stop sinking further and further into the corner of the room .

viktor managed to slink his way up to her side , one hand nursing some wine as his other gripped his cane . ❝ i don't know how you do this . ❞ he grumbled , exasperated . ❝ i think i would much rather pluck every individual hair from my arm with tweezers than endure this a moment longer . ❞
