Legends in the Sky
Yesterday I found out Neil Peart died and my father in law made a comment that between him and John Bonham Heaven had one hell of a percussion section now. It had been raining since the night before. Unusual to have thunderstorms in January even for a place as unpredictable as Missouri but the storms came anyway. It rained from Thursday night to Saturday morning with bouts of loud thunder and flashes of lightning so bright it was like a moment of daytime in the pitch black night. The temperature started at 60 degrees Thursday and by Saturday we were expecting 1 to 3 inches of snow. It was quiet the show mother nature had put together with the experience of all four season complete with lights and sound. And as I watched the rain turn to ice on the windows and listened to the rumble of the storms I thought of how perfect it was a display of her power and volatility. I kept thinking about Heaven's percussion section putting on a show for us all and as the thunder rolled and the temperature dropped I enjoyed the show and remembered how lucky I was to know the music of such legends. Now they play the music of the sky and there is nothing more beautiful.
