2016 Election
Let me get this straight for those who don’t understand:
My feelings about this election have absolutely nothing to do with party preferences. Yes, I am liberal and I will always vote for liberal candidates. However, I understand that there are people out there with conservative views and vote for conservative candidates. Kudos, that’s how you feel. That’s how the system is built.
This election wasn’t about conservative or liberal, Republican or Democrat though. People don’t “dislike” Trump. People are legitimately scared of losing their rights because of Trump and the sentiment he stands for. Honestly, I think Trump could be full of hot air. Mike Pence is not and Mike Pence will be pulling the reigns of this presidency. Trump has no clue what he is stepping into and he has no political background. He doesn’t have the slightest idea about how to get a law to go through congress. His vice president will do it all for him.
Mike Pence is terrifying. This is the man in Indiana who wanted to imprison members of the LGBT community simply for applying for a marriage licence. He wanted to force women to have a funeral if they had a miscarriage or abortion. My rights as a woman and many of my friends rights as members of the LGBT community are legitimately at risk for being taken away. With a majority conservative congress and multiple seats on the Supreme Court possibly up for grabs things could get very scary for the minority groups in this country.
This isn’t anger because my candidate didn’t win.
I never campaigned for Clinton and I certainly didn’t like her. However, I would have accepted her. I wouldn’t be scared of her like I’m scared of the Trump/Pence machine. Guess who ISIS backed for US President? They knew if Trump became our president it would be easier to sway many extremist to their side. We will be facing hell for the next four years. I am honestly sick to my stomach and have broken down many times because this is horrifying. Never ask again how Hitler rose to power in Germany. I will simply point you to this election. But people are so blind by what they see and hear on FOX news they simply can’t get passed their own prejudices to see the bigger issues at hand.
Trump says he’ll bring back jobs? How? What jobs? Has he ever said? They’ll be factory jobs at minimum wage. That’s the only jobs he’ll be able to bring back and to do so would be cutting our Clean Air and Clean Water acts. What do you think will happen to women in the next four years. We just put a man in power who brags about sexually assaulting women. He grabbed his own daughters ass at the RNC! This is not what America stands for and I’m legitimately ashamed to call this country my home at the moment.
