I called it “L’After de China” I always had ideas when I was in French TV, just didn’t have enough clout to have people get behind them. When I was on the very popular #LeGrandJournal in 2011/12 I had to push real hard to get this module made. I wanted to create an after show, to talk with the musical artist who most of the time didn’t get a chance to say anything on the main show. The idea was to really walk of the soundstage at the end of the main program and tape a more in depth conversation, edit it, and have it ready the next day. Simple right? @raphael_favero_longo was down and his team and I did our best. But the main station wouldn’t push it. The main presenter wouldn’t tease it. We got this shoestring budget to do 4 or 5 episodes and we worked hard. I know that this was a good idea. I know we executed it well for the time. And it’s now a very popular format. And I knew there was a public for it but with no help from the mother channel @canalplus itself or the bosses: It didn’t continue. I came into that show where everyone was fighting for the crown, it was a full on ego fest, pretty interesting experience, that hurt me deeply. The show was dying. And the behind the scenes was a place I never want to back to. I learned, licked my wounds and got over it. I also realized I didn’t want or need that kind of popularity. I have been and always will be just for the culture, the art... I am here to spread love. That’s why I am so happy and proud to have my own shows @jazzfmuk in the UK @tsfjazz in France and to be an indie artist that still is creating... And using my gift for storytelling and healing. The media world of self importance was never for me. @youssouphamusik was THE biggest charting artist in France at that time. He is a brilliant lyricist. An indie artist. And he was gracious enough to help me with the pilot. As black people in France we had to look for each other and I will always be grateful of the support him and @lassananemesis have shown me over the years. And yes I was in my Whitney Houston wig faze. Not ashamed at all. #blackwomeninmedia (at TV World) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCgrlUgqL6V/?igshid=1nf8y3ipmp7zh
