He was tired, but happy. Happier than he’d been, truly been, in a long while. He’d convinced Alphard to come to his parents house for a family dinner- perhaps it was the promise that he would be helping his mother in the kitchen or that neither of them had seen neither Sirius or Marlene in a little while. But Alphard was here, for dinner, and it had been the best family dinner he’d had despite the world outside.
He gave Alphard a small smile, shy and quiet and he reached down to take his hand before pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Figured it’d be best ta get away a moment b’fore mum starts askin’ questions.” Questions Maddock wasn’t sure he wanted, as his mother was a prying being. “Just a walk. James and Mar have this little wooded path they’ve marked when they were wee. At tha risk of soundin’ romantically cliche.”
