Feeling the others hand on his back already had his breathing slowing down. Maddock has that talent, each touch he felt the tension in his muscles slipping away. He just wanted it to never stop. Nodding he looked back up at him and Into his eyes and waved his hand to gesture it was okay. He wasn’t expecting maddock to have all the answers, he certainly didn’t have any himself. It’s his presence was enough. His hands were still shaking as he lifted them up to look at them, he rested them gently on his lap. Biting his lip he could have sworn he was drawing blood. His eyes watered up again as another tear trailed down his cheek. The shake wracked his body
He had to tell him. Squeezing his eyes shut as another tear trickled out he opened them and smiled softly at him and looks at the comforting mug of tea. “I always like when you make tea.” He signed smiling. “Thank you.” His hands paused. “I don’t mean I think we are okay for tonight here but.. I think we need to stay somewhere else, at least for a few days”. He signed furrowing his brows. “It’s not safe, I don’t know how long they were watching me but they will come this way I know they will. We’re not safe.” His head nestled into his chest
Maddock held Alaric to him, patiently waited for him to calm himself and process what had happened. A raid was never pretty and the aftermath of one rarely left anyone alive. He couldn’t provide much, but he could give the lad a place to stay, a warm body to lean on and take comfort in. Injuries would be tended to and as always his mind was open and free for the taking.
“I know,” He murmured softly, lips curling up in a pained smile. They’d track Alaric here, it wouldn’t be tonight or tomorrow, but they’d come. Just when they thought they were safe things would turn on their head; Maddock was sure of it. Once Alaric was asleep, he’d work out a letter to his family- written in code and asking for a place of refuge. His father would know where they could go, they just had to hold out a few days. “Doesn’ matter, darling. I’ll put up the wards an’ not let ‘em near ye without a fight. An’ luckily fer us, I got top grades in dueling.”
