This week, Hester’s Social Committee planned an amazing trip to the Renaissance Faire, but only committee members Leila and myself showed up. So, we’re going to tell you all what you missed out on because…it was fantastic.
The best part of RenFaire is dressing up and playing the part, so as soon as we arrived I made sure Leila bought a corset (my parents will burn it over a hellfire if they ever find it in my room, but it was so worth it! - Leila). I directed us immediately after to several craft jewelry booths to make sure we were properly adorned with accessories. As single attractive maidens, Leila and I were highly sought after by knights and lieges, and two courtiers even jousted for us to show us how manly and worthy of our hands they were. We bought them delicious turkey legs and pickles on a stick as thanks and shared them in the bright sunshine to the sounds of the lute lessons being given nearby. Inspired by the song, I showed the group how to do my favorite courtly dance - the Half Hannikan (it's a crowd pleaser!). A crowd stopped and watched and totally loved it! The dancing went on until dusk, but sadly we had to leave with the sun (I can’t wait until the day my curfew isn’t at sunset - Leila). We hope more people want to join in what sounds like such an amazing day, and hopefully come out with us next time!
