Hey! I hope you don't mind if I ask for some weight loss advice. I used to be 225 lbs, and from February to March i was able to drop down to 210 lbs from counting calories (I eat 1,300 calories), but it's been 3 months and my weight hasn't changed at all from 210. I also have hypothyroidism and PCOS which could be reasons why I'm not losing anymore weight, but I'd figure I'd ask for advice before I give up! So, any tips you can give to me?
First of all, congrats on losing even that much! I know how hard it can be to start!
Count everything, every single thing you eat. Every small bite. I don’t know about you, but I’ve fallen into this trap numerous times when I tried losing weight before - I didn’t count small bites of food or certain snacks and went well over my calorie limit.
Limit your carbs intake - carbs don’t make you magically fatter, but they do have this nasty habit of converting into “water weight” which might confuse the number on the scale. I’ve heard people with hypothyroidism suffer from this problem more heavily than others.
Increase your daily physical activity. Can’t jog, swim or ride a bike? Just go for a long brisk walk, somewhere around 2-3 hours every day. If you’re busy and don’t have much time, try walking everywhere you need, cut some of your lesiure hours. Go out with a friend, buy/download an audiobook or just make a bitchin’ playlist and keep moving!
Found yourself binging or doing something else “bad”? Work it out! And never give up because you screwed up once.
Ditch offline food diary, if you’re using one, get a Myfitnesspal and some sort of tracking app for your phone, like Runtastic or Micoach. You can even add me there, so we can motivate each other, just send another ask!
Lastly, and most importantly, go see a doctor and see what they have to say about your condition. Doctors are not out to get you (at least in the normal countries) and will offer a lot of helpful advice.
