Several things happened in the 2010s.

Movies and games faced increased homogenization and an associated nose-dive in quality, because of a few mega-success stories everyone wanted to copy, as well as new cost-cutting or money-making tactics, that have also impacted the quality of the products. This has been largely a result of shareholder pressure.

More women and minorities got into the industries, just because the times they are a-changing.

A few industry bigwigs got really high on Obama fumes and thought to push really ham-fisted progressive messaging. This is not a new thing, historically speaking, it's just that the messaging is different in each era that happened.

Several major journalists of the former geek sphere got high off the same fumes and tried to distance themselves from their usual audience and got very stupid with it. This, along with several smaller scandals that got blown out of proportion by literally every side involved, lead to the clusterfuck that was Gamergate.

And it all lead to the creation of the anti-SJW sphere that later morphed into the manosphere.

It's easy to blame Anita (who is a terrible person, mind you) or Gamergaters (who were a diverse bunch from outright Nazis to radical lefties to normal people with normal grievances) . But in reality it's many different parallel events that are only loosely connected happening at the same time.

Tbh it's a good read, except the manosphere part. The most prominent ones evolved mostly from the pick up artists/fitness/prank channels. The grind grifters that always hated women.

The prominent anti-sjws either do the same shit they were doing in 2015, still complaining about a black person appearing in live action adaptation of a cartoon or are busy having their face eaten by a leopard.
