The recent rise in popularity and availability of online gambling in its many ways (gacha, crypto, stocks, prediction markets, sports betting, just outright gambling, payday loans) is legitimately some end-of-civilization stuff. All of this used to be for the bottom rungs of society, a sign of desperation. What are we doing? Why are so many people into it now?
Maybe its because its more availlable and easier than ever. Before you had to go to an actual casino or a horse racetrack, hand out your actual money (or exchanging it for tokens) and phisically stay there and bet.
Now ou can do all of this with just a few clicks on your phone, it doesn't fell like doing much cause you don't have to hande your money physically, and you can bet on pretty much anything.
Scratch offs and betting salons existed for decades, but not needing to actually go there is a big game-changer

Yeah, I noticed too - and it really does feel like a genuine death of culture. I think it's happening because economic issues breed more desperation and people think gambling will help. Not helped with the most powerful people right now (at least here in America) are getting in on gambling and making money off gambling companies that are on the rise. That and those same companies now have influencers that they keep leashed through loans and sponsors to peddle those same apps and the allure of gambling to their followers. All this together makes gambling more open, which makes it feel like more people are doing it, which makes it feel more socially acceptable.
It's honestly sickening, and I go to work with people who talk about it and do the crazy options they think will win them a lot of money.

I'd trade my phone and PC for the ones I used in 2014 in a heartbeat if it meant no AI, no ridiculous gaming budgets, no rapid increase in cost of living or hardware costs…
Of course a troon is a misogynistic creep. Of course.
What is this even in reference to, I barely post here, lmao.

John Kricfalusi is a true artist, in a sense that his art is extremely informed by his personal trauma, neuroses and worldviews. His problem is that he thinks that's gay nonsense for "writer cartoons".
