Continued from here because tumblr is being an ass
A call from Lucas down at the local bar came, ASKING if Will could cover a shift a two. Usually the call came to be the man at the door, not behind the bar itself to make some drinks. Not that he was hard, he’d done it before. So, the wolf AGREED and found himself pouring beers and several basic mixed drinks for the locals he all knew well or at least in passing. Every face was familiar and all were friendly as was the nature of their little town. Not the busiest time for the place, making it easy for him to keep UP with patrons while talking here and there as a bartender did in places like this. A smile would flash every now and then as people talked about their good things in life or asking him HOW he was even doing with his little clan up in the mountains.
No one ever questioned it. They just knew they’d been there for a long time. It wasn’t like the situation they had in Wolfach where the people knew they were werewolves. No, this was more of a RESPECT for the families that had been here since the town was founded. Most associated them with that while choosing to stay in their own little neighborhood of houses in the WOODS. They just assumed they liked the seclusion better, which wasn’t wrong. Some of his pack did opt for the neighborhood homes but would come up to the meeting hall when needed. However, what he and several others didn’t expect was a NEW face to waltz on in. It wasn’t even tourist season yet, that was when unknown strangers walked in without so much as a second look. But Will did his best not to stare too LONG even as he caught the scent of blood and gunpowder. It caused his nose to scrunch for a moment before shaking it off and pouring another patron a beer.
His look may not have BEEN friendly as green eyes looked down the bar and at the girl who took a seat. Tossing a quick glance at the man he poured the beer to, he flipped the bar towel over his shoulder and walked over to her. “What’ll it be, STRANGER?”
Harley took a moment to glance around the bar she had found herself in and noted the stares she had been getting were more than just the usual curiosity. It gave her a certain uneasiness, though she made sure to conceal that. She wasn’t exactly sure why she wasn’t welcome or even if that was the case, but something was off here and she had walked right into it. So much for a relaxing drink, she would have to keep herself on guard. She winced a bit from the pain of the bruise that was now forming on her side but straightened her self on the stool as the bartender walked over. “Whiskey, neat. Make it a double.” She had rattled off her usual go-to, no matter where she was, whiskey never let her down. However, she realized she was in a new town and this was not her normal haunt and she may have sounded harsh, so she remembered her manners. “Please.”
She noticed yet another patron eyeing her and huffed some before turning her attention back to the man behind the counter. “Am I missing something here? Or am I catching all the dirty looks?”, she asked, figuring he may know what the issue was. After all, she assumed he lived here as well, though it wasn’t the first time she had noticed the weird stares, it happened when she rolled into town for this case too. She brushed it off then but now she had more questions. Though, she would probably be smart to move on after this. She didn’t like to stay in one place too long, especially some place she wasn’t welcome.
