The deity laughed, a little bitter around the edges and shook his head. The golden beads in his hair clicked together quietly. “I am a death God, I get blamed for just about everything my dear.” Tanned shoulders lifted into a shrug before he turned back to his salad, spearing a cherry tomato on the tines of his fork. “They accused me of attacking my father while he wore the skin of a leopard... They made it true, so everyone believes it. As I would side with that...” He cut himself off. The look on his face was clearly one of disgust and annoyance, but it vanished as quickly as the tiny fruit did.
“Mortals confuse me.” He sighed once he’d swallowed his mouthful. “So desperate to explain away their own actions citing the intervention of a divine power, and yet they turn their back so easily.” Clawed fingers drummed on the table for a moment and then stopped. “Present company excluded of course.” Anubis offered her a smile, slightly crooked on one side.
