Update On My Game!

Hi everyone,

I bring you an update on the otome game I’m making via Ren’py. I’ve finished drawing the character sprites, so I have some substantial artwork and progress to show. I made a post on Lemmasoft about my game, so go check it out here! It’s called “Operation: Future Domination.” Just rolls off the tongue, eh? XD

Character Introduction: Emiya Yoko

Since it’s been like two weeks since our last concrete post, we’ve decided to throw in a character introduction for those who are interested in a more detailed breakdown of our main protagonist (Seeing as the one in our main post was limited to the amount of space we had)

^ Look at how little space we had when writing up our initial character description of her!

So in this post, we decided that it was time we gave a more detailed break down of her as a character. Now, on with the character introduction!

Today, we will be talking about Emiya Yoko, 26, the rich daughter of two very prominent figures in the Japanese pharmaceutical market, Takusa Yoko (Dad) and Kazuna Nomiya (Mom) - (Mind you this is all fictional. D:) She’s wealthy, she’s pretty, she’s intelligent, she’s the Repunzel of the story, stuck high up in her hospital tower, waiting for a white prince to come rescue her from her everyday boredom. Despite all these redeeming traits however, she is also a girl you’d consider a ‘Tsundere’ and would often show some attitude when dealing with most people she’s more familiar with. It isn’t so much of a problem considering that she doesn’t have many friends to begin with, but with what few she has (Sanada and Minami), she does occasionally (And unconsciously) sass them a bit (More for Sanada though).

As mentioned in the general description of things, she is diagnosed with something called dilated cardiomyopathy which is a kind of heart condition where the heart pumps blood less efficiently than a normal heart is supposed to (Read Team Medical Dragon - that manga is da bomb) and to make things a bit more complicated, she’s also the carrier of a rare blood phenotype called Bombay Blood (Which makes blood transfusions a lot more troublesome for her). Add all that up together, and you have a recipe for a truly sedentary life, one suited for a book lover like Emiya.

Other than her interest in books, she also has a love for sketching and watching J-dramas all day long, habits she had picked up from both her parents during her younger days when they could spend a little bit more time with her. She was initially interested in learning a musical instrument as well, but never got to it after she became busy with school work. (That, and also because it was getting rather lengthy for us to describe her time with the piano).

About things she doesn’t like in contrast on the other hand, she makes it very clear of her distaste in working overtime (Drilled into her after watching both her parents work till phenomenally late hours when she was younger), she often grumbles about it, using her parents as a clear example, although in truth, she does it herself too whenever something comes up at work (Before she was hospitalized). Among other things, she also greatly dislikes being put into embarrassing situations, as her ‘Tsun’ attitude would have it. This is often solved with a punch to the gut (Quite often to Sanada’s gut) to relieve the tension she feels building up in both her cheeks. Emiya also has a minor fear of insects, specifically to rhinoceros beetles as a result of some childhood trauma she had experienced while out on a bug hunting trip once upon a time.

Well, I won’t go into detail on what kind of music she likes or what food she prefers to have over others (Although she isn’t so much of a picky eater), but in essence, she is a pretty fun character to write about after considering the kind of interactions she has both with Sanada and Minami. And although she might seem like the sedentary princess locked up in her tall bell tower, she does often have bouts of adventuren-ness (However you spell that) and would go roaming about the city if she ever feels like it.

All in all, she’s a pretty rounded character, not considering that she probably suffers - Oofff!

W-Well, I guess we will leave that minor detail out for now. You’ll probably learn about it during the game anyways. Well then, for now, let’s consider this a wrap up for today’s character introduction.
