I read all your hopes/theories for magi and i have to say everything you mention there really need to be explored by ohtaka so we can get a good closure of the manga. But i wonder how long will the last arc? Do you think the last arc will be sufficient enough to give a complete closure of magi?
Ah, there’s probably more I just didn’t think of from the top of my head!
I can’t see into the future or read minds so there’s really no telling how long this Final Arc will be and if it will wrap up everything.Maybe it’s not even MEANT to wrap up absolutely everything - every story I experienced so far had some loose ends I wondered about in the end. I doubt it will be different in Magi, really.I never knew whether these threads left hanging in stories was intentional (to intentionally give people something to wonder about, or open doors for sequels etc) or if it even was always a bad thing. I think this is to some extent very subjective, with different people prioritizing getting closure on different things.
However, the length of the arc itself doesn’t necessarily mirror how many things we’ll get closure on either. What counts is how the pages will be used; and as ideal as that would be, that doesn’t depend solely on Ohtaka’s plans. Magi is a published serialized work, so it would be only natural that the editors, selling numbers and fandom will have some of influence (though how much, I cannot say), too. It remains to be seen.
The longer Arcs in Magi (Balbadd, Magnostadt, Kou Empire) were around 40-50 chapters long, so one could suspect with the final one would be around the same length or longer. Maybe MUCH longer (or shorter!), as there’s not really a rule on the length of these arcs.
Personally, I expect Magi to be running for at least another year.As much as I want to keep reading new Magi chapters forever, I’d rather have it end at an appropriate point! Not stretched out pointlessly, but not rushed either.
Let’s hope Ohtaka can go all out and tell her story the way she wants.
