Mason had been running around the ER for what felt like a lifetime; sure that he might fall over as his tired muscles ached with every movement. It was all he could do to keep his head up as he downed coffee after coffee -- using every spare moment he could to find to buy espresso from the coffee stand in the hospital gift shop. It got him through the day, at least, but when Mace finally found himself off shift -- energy crashing faster than he could help -- he didn’t find himself further than the break room before he figured he wasn’t going to make it home that night. Dragging himself through the doors with a heavy sigh. He felt himself perk up though, even just the slightest bit, when he spotted Lena’s familiar face on his favorite couch. The man raising a playful eyebrow toward the brunette as he fell onto the couch beside her. “Fancy seeing you here, Ms. Williamson,” Mason grinned, but the exhaustion in his voice was evident. A sleepy yawn falling from his lips before he continued. “Is it just me, or has it been a few days since we’ve been on the floor together? I was starting to think you actually got fired. Good to know you’re still around -- would have hated myself if something happened to my favorite nurse.”
