howdy!! a bit late but on the other hand, it IS wednesday now... i saw you reblog that lore ask meme, and figured i'd send an ask! pls talk a bit more about the handsome young man Isidor, i would love to hear ALL about him!! what is his personality like? is he very fussy about his silks or just a bit "meh" on what happens to them? - rifter-pride
Ayy thank you, it's never too late to ask me questions about my dragons! I'm so down for talking more about Isidor:
Isidor is a young Gaoler (early twenties-ish if he was human) who has participated in dangerous expeditions before. He’s handled Shade infestations and seen an eldritch abomination up close once, but always as part of a team led by more experienced, older Gaolers. He thinks the elders are a bit antiquated and favor those of the younger generations who parrot their views. In turn, this has made him feel more than a little overshadowed and led him to go out on his own. Both to get rid of the shackles of his elders, but also prove to them that he’s good actually.
Still, Dragonhome’s not too far from home, if he gets homesick then it’s only a short trip back to his Order.
He’s a bit too confident in his own abilities and nowhere near as experienced as he wants to believe. He has yet to understand the virtues of patience. This leads him into dumb situations that could have been avoided but there’s no one to blame but himself. Still, he stands his ground and doesn’t let himself be bullied either by the roving Blackblades or the creatures he encounters.
Like many Gaolers before him, he barged in with this idea that the desert’s just an issue because none of the locals have tried his neat tricks. It’s starting to sink in that maybe things are a bit more complicated than that, and Gaolers do not have the answers to every problem in the world.
Also, that’s not how you make friends, and Isidor is a friendly guy. He’s outgoing and not yet jaded by the world. Still, he has some subconscious disdain for those older than him, even when he’s a newcomer, due to his less than stellar experiences with his Gaoler mentors.
As for his silks, other Gaolers find him vain and deride him for picking up this modern custom. This may also have been part of the reason for why he left. He loves his silks and takes good care of them. However, he sees rips from certain kinds of wear and tear as “battle scars”. Tearing his scarf on a cactus is embarrassing and his own fault, but a desert monster ripping at it, that’s honorable damage. He’ll still repair it, though.
He also enjoys when others comment on them—he’s confident about wearing them but it’s just so nice when others notice, you know?
do your dragons have any like, food specialties? like a regional dish (or dishes) of Florabrisa. for the tourist, what would you recommend as a must-eat?
oooh yes definitely!
Ricotta is well-known for her lasagna which she makes her special recipe with her own grown herbs (and lots of love), and Siciliane is known for his pizza..slice of heaven, especially with Florabrisa's fresh vegetables added on top! (olives, onions, mushrooms, artichokes..but you can also get plain cheese if you prefer haha. or bug pizza if you're a fae....) But yeah both dishes are very popular and recommended in Florabrisa! Wheat, vegetables, tomato sauce, and cheese are a hard to beat combo haha
Moraine likes to bake and is known for her spinach croissants! She makes a variety of other pastries and makes and plans full meals too (since Ricotta tends to handle pasta, Moraine focuses a little more on rice which is definitely common in Wind) but I'd say her croissants are generally her most signature thing!
And Mykytyn makes marzipan! Tasty almond treat definitely worth trying c:
for the ask meme: Lady and Santi; Samuel and Pietro
Oh man two of what could be considered ‘the most absolutely stubborn people who will go about their jobs until it literally kills them.’ The only other contestant nearing their ranks is Walter, who fights with Lady for supremacy.
As such they don’t tangle with each other often- their skillsets and jobs keep them well separate and busy, but of course Santi both appreciates Lady’s skills and the fact that she can keep the biggest and most destructive morons in check. He’d call it ‘if he had to pick someone to respect’. Lady is the shore upon which the other members of her science team break, and he’s well glad she’s there to at the very least keep them contained. He does not know of another person who could do this so consistently AND that could also patch you up.
This does not stop him from getting into a spat with her if she or another member of her team pick up and want to study something potentially dangerous, and he’s kept a private mental tab of the times he’s lost said fight when attempting to get it away from her.
She relents on occasion but it’s been well stacked in her favor.
Unlike other members of the clan Pietro does not call on him nor does he wear the objects that allow Sam to manifest near him.
Sam, for his part has tried to engage with Pietro person to person on occasion- which he will admit is both out of concern and private interest. The few times Pietro has responded with his actual voice (Sam is not great at the animalistic body language Piet tends to use) has both assured and kind of worried Sam. This is a creature sure of itself and it’s place in the world, with utterly no need for him. One or two of these conversations has left him shaken, though he is one to doubt himself.
Pietro for his part thinks Samuel is excellent to have around for the safety of the clan as a whole- he just doesn’t need his skills personally. He also knows well enough that no matter how stable an Arcane dragon seems they always have something, don’t they? Pietro sees the scars on Samuel’s best friend. It could happen again, and possibly to someone else.
Glimmer is just a gene I really like and I specifically adore what it does to snappers, I just like those additional hints it gives the tert colour in general? The only thing that wins over glimmer for me is stained but otherwise glimmer is just solid, loved it since its release. Also some colours turn very interesting with glimmer like radioactive, love it. Toska's my big fav with it:
