Western Australian Plant: Utricularia multifida, this carnivorous plant is endemic to SW Western Australia.
Flowers of pinguicula 'Pirouette'. These last a surprisingly long time; they're like gesneriads but carnivorous.

#1337 - Utricularia menziesii - Redcoats Bladderwort
Carnivorous plants are most common in nutrient-poor soil, so it’s not entirely surprising that the Alison Baird Reserve, which has the Worst Soil In The World, also has more species of carnivorous plant than all of Europe. This is one of the more common ones.
Redcoats are found in waterlogged sand, seasonally wet depressions, moss-beds on granite outcrops, and swamps in Australia’s SW coastal zones, It flowers for a few weeks, between July and September, but if the ground dries out it dies back to a subterranean corm.
Like other bladderworts, Redcoats catch prey in remarkable high-speed suction traps triggered by touch. The traps are only a few millimetres long, but the prey are tiny as well.

I finally got myself a ping! He’s a little beat up from shipping but his new growth looks great. And look, he already caught a gnat!
