controversial opinion:
In tmnt 2012 Leo is the one who is the most like the Shredder and Raph is the one most like Splinter. That's why Splinter is so hard on Leonardo and why he pushes him to be leader. To be a good example for his brothers but not let him become arrogant. To try to make his center be on family and the ninja code of honor. Why Leonardo is so subconsciously afraid of the Shredder and so obsessed with self sacrifice and trying to be better. Trying to keep his family safe. He needs to be in control because he refuses to repeat the past and be like that monster. In mutant apocalypse we see him becoming like the Shredder when his center, his reason for being is taken away. Plus Leo and Raph parallel Saki and Yoshi so much. Raph is so much like Splinter, he's artistic, a romantic, has anger issues, is a little brother, deeply loves his big brother. Their story ends happy and breaks the cycle once Leo kills the Shredder.
Rise of the tmnt thoughts:
Something that I do genuinely love about rise as a Leo fan, is that the other Leos always have to be the big brother, but he never has that. Having a big brother watching your back, someone you feel safe being completely yourself with (for better or for worse), is something completely different than having little brothers. No matter how much Leo loves his brothers, there's always going to be this need in him to protect and shield them from pain. But who gets to be a big brother for Leo? In rise Leo gets to have that. He finally gets to have a big brother.
In a way 12 balanced out scenes of all of the quadruplets sharing dynamics together and outside of the group it's just nice to actually see outside of 03 of real Leonardo and Raphael moments of them being brothers and not always going at each other's throats literally is just nice ✨🐢💙❤️
Someone tagged one of my 12 Leo and 12 Raph posts with 'magnet duo' and it's so perfect I'm keeping it.
12 Twins be Magnet Duo, joined together, two halves of same whole, unable to separate cuz they cannot exist without the other and yet opposite by nature but still very much the same with very much the same purpose and they attract danger and trouble like magnets
The retired old debates of whom is right in 07 between Leo and Raph fight scene is soo long ago outdated
People don't get it especially if they don't read the side comic
And plus they did resolve it of Rapheal seeing where he made the error and wanted nothing but his brother back 🙂🙃🤦♀️
Since you love Leo and Mikey’s relationship what’s your opinion on Leo and Raph’s?
I think they both really love one another but they're a lot more alike than they like to admit. They each are very independent and have their own views of how things should be handled, which leads to conflict. But when things come down to the wire, Raph and Leo understand one another probably the best out of the group. They just struggle with expressing it sometimes.
